I'm now using an APC (Chinese copy) 11" x 5.5. The motor has a KV rating of 830 per volt. It seems well suited as the low end torque is there for the slower flying. I haven't put my watt meter on yet but I am getting a good 5-8 mins of flight time out of a 1550 mah 3 cell Lipo in the wind.

I put mine on my Watt meter today and was surprised at the results! With a 3 cell Lipo and the 11 x 5.5" prop it is pulling 150 watts and only 14 amps. I think my ESC is 40 amps..LOL bit of an over kill

I have made a sketch for anyone who is building and wants to pencil in some colour schemes? Hope they are of use to you budding builders?

Been out this evening and maidened 'The Orange One', because this has been made for a friend it will be needed to be posted. So in true Gyronut fashion the mast was banded into position, the fin fits into a slot with location dowels and is held in place with a magnet. Tailplane is tack glued onto the CF boom and as a result kept twisting in the air and the UC is removable. It flew fine and I had several enjoyable flights. I commented to yeh old camera girl that this is taking off on its own with no input from me...'yeh yeh yeh' was her answer so I said watch this

Without doubt the easiest model I have ever flown, video to follow.

I am hoping the new owner will enjoy it

If anyone is interested in the plan I can knock them out for 10 a piece plus postage. I have to order 5 at a time to keep them this low. They are filled with as much info as I can get on them and have just been updated with a new blade type and a bit on balancing.

Just PM me if you are interested.

Regards from over here (where summer has started at last!)

Bill, yellow or white are my favourites as a base colour. Not because I like them but they are good to see.

Here's a bit of footage taken last night with a bit of fun 'free flight taking off', she said 'you were dancing', my reply was I wasnt. I played the video back and

Fire Fly evening flight (5 min 4 sec)

Simon,
The depron is coloured with an acrylic paint that I bought from the LMS,
RC STYRO colours is the name on the tin.

Bill, there is a little bit of stupid in all of us just a little more in some!

Hi Richard,
Would you sell your Fire Fly plan in pdf format as well. I would still pay the 10.
Regards,
Martin
PS: I was given a Gyro One and told the guy I would build him a Crane Fly but I think the Fire Fly would be a "nicer" gift.

Martin,
A Gyro One! you lucky man!!, unfortunately I don't send out my PDF's.
Though the Fire Fly II is a fairly simple machine it took me 40 odd hours to draw it and add all the info (I hear you all laughing but I'm learning). It may not seem it but to design, build, test and develop takes a huge effort on your own.
For this reason I always prefer to get them printed myself, package them myself and post them myself.
I am not saying you would but it would only take one person with a PDF and it could be online for all making all my time, development work a waste of time in my eyes.
I hope you understand?

Andre,
Sorry, I will check my PM's now

Regards

Rich
