I know it is not correct as per the full scale. But for me.....I think "Red is right" and of course green is left side. I never understood why full scale does the marking light backwards. Something to do with nautical rules or something? Anyway.....Rich....it makes total sense to me.

To be perfectly honest I didn't realise it wasn't intentional they were just the 2 brightest colours that I liked. The blue is on the underside as its not as bright, there will be yellow on the tail. It will be a lot of work for me to unsolder what I have done. I will ponder on it

I can always stand on my head when I fly it

Spring cleaning and decorating has severely curtailed progress of the Firefly lately. The HK heads arrived the other day, I was not impressed, so decided to make my own. I pinched 'Pete's' idea from the Cranefly log and made a head out of 10mm thick Polystyrene butchered from from a cutting board from the Pound Shop.

Polystyrene is not the easiest of material to work with, but it cuts OK with a normal woodworker's tenon saw and taps and drills OK with normal hand tools.

Quite pleased with the result - see picture below:

Nice work but what was wrong with your HK head?

Wonder if our American friends have dollar shops?

I have been waiting patiently for weeks for the weather to better, today the Fire Fly II took to the skies for the first time and it flies great
Just a couple of degrees extra needed on the rearward tilt and she was flying like a 'Good Un'. The rudder is small on this one but it still seems quite effective with reasonably tight turns being achieved. Pretty pleased with this one

Customary video is being uploaded

Rich

Wish it looked like that down my way today. Do you fancy coming down south and bringing some of those white clouds with you?

Cheers,
Simon

Its very docile Dave, I don't think it would be too good in a wind. I will just stick to calm weather and enjoy it for what it is, a 'sling it in the boot of the car at quick notice Gyro' I was loving those touch and goes, its good practice.

G'day Rich.
I suggest that you have a look on ebay for ''2 X Bike Car valve caps flash light" I believe with a little modification that they may be very suitable for the rotors of your night flying project, and they wont cost you an arm and a leg to find out. They may even be suitable for day time use.
