Hi Sean
I had the same question and it is painted by brush... Definitely enhances correx life.
I think it was a "fancy" ourdoor paint. Wentzel comments??

Hi
I rattle painted it with rust-oleum speciality plastic and then covered with a paint on plascon - paint effects glazecoat varnish. Gloss.
The plascon is great caus it gives a "rubbery effect which also strengthens the plane.

The decals are printed on a inkjet stuck on with a bit of plascon paint effect and then covered with the same. There is a special thread here on rc groups which has great decals.

Great morning flight at Signals

Had Signal Hill all to myself this morning. Wind was really light and more thermic that anything. Had a great flight with the Alula. Needs some more dialing in, but flew ok none the less. The club is flying Hoogekraal this afternoon. We have a public holiday in South Africa today.

Afternoon at Hoogekraal

Sounds great, Andrew!

I looked at Signals vs Hoogekraal and it was a tough decision to make....both were W-WSW and the Guru predicted a turn towards SW for Hoogekraal in the afternoon. Luckily, I made the right choice. It started out light enough for the Alula and then I moved to the Wing and eventually to the Impala. It seems that many of our members had other commitments as we started out with just Dylan (and his fiancée) and myself. Well, we had all the airspace to ourselves. We were later joined by Wentzel and we had some nice smooth lift. Dylan had so much fun flying and trimming his plane, that he actually forgot that he promised his fiancée lunch...oops! Luckily she has lots of patience. After Dylan left, the wind started picking up and Wentzel and I had to strap some extra weight to our planes and we flew till sunset.

Here are a few pics....

Thanks, Jim. We don't fly off Table Mountain. (see post #45 earlier in this thread) Our club flies close by at Signal Hill (post #36) next to Lion's head. That's the peak on the right in the pictures or we fly Hoogekraal which is just outside Cape Town.

Thanks Jakes, I thought it might be out of bounds.
We have a good ridge local to me here which would work well in 2 wind directions, but is within the 4klm restricted zone around an airport. Pity!
It would DS nicely.

Pity, sounds nice though. Sneak one in, they should not pick you up on their radar.

I just heard that the $10,000 fine makes it not worth the risk!
Although I find that figure hard to believe. Even $1000 is too much to risk. It's also very public and it would be a major job looking out for walkers.
