New Losi 2.4GHz Brushless 1/24 Micro SCT and Rally announced!

Just wanted to get this info out there:

http://losi.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=LOSB0242

http://losi.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=LOSB0243

Looks like they are still using the 5-wire servo on these guys. However, this seems to answer all my micro desires. I was wanting a micro but I knew I'd have to do the upgrading myself to the 2.4GHz and the brushless.

Now if they'd only do this for the 1/36 scale models.

Is the micro BL SCT any good? Is it worth it compared to the traxxas E-revo VXL in terms of speed, fun and durability?

It's WAY smaller than a mini e-revo, probably half the size.

It'll be much slower and won't handle nearly as rough of terrain, all due to size.

How does it compare to other losi products such as the 1/36 models and the original 1/24 SCT?

Considering price points, I'd say the newest one is the one to grab. you'd easily spend more than the 40~ dollar difference between the original 1/24 SCT and the updated (brushless/2.4GHz) model just trying to upgrade the original/older model.

As far as 1/24 vs 1/36, it all depends.

1/36 : 2 wheel drive, which wheelies easier, and is the smaller of the two. Good for indoor use unless you've got a smooth drive way.

1/24: 4 wheel drive, oil filled shocks, no C-clips on the wheels, which most everyone wants on a hobby grade RC Car. This one also has a bit larger turning radius, but I don't think that's a huge complaint considering there are ways to improve that. This one may handle a little more terrain.

I have both these cars. I have upgraded the 1/36 truck to bearings, brushless motor, and LiPo. The 1/24 I have only upgraded to LiPo.

I run them both on my RCP track. The 1/36th scale is almost undrivable it is soo fast. I also did upgrade the axles so I could use wheel nuts!!! What I really need to do is upgrade to oil filled shocks and then hopefully it will more drive-able. If I gun it right now it will actually do tumble-sots!!! I have broken a few parts nothing too expensive (that is the best part the ENTIRE transmission complete with diff is around 10bucks!!!). It's not even worth taking it apart to put bearings in.

The 1/24 scale already has bearings AND is really really awesome for the money!! It may not be as fast BUT is soo easy to drive that it is sooo much easier to do laps around my track and with the LiPo is preaty fast. I would think this new one with the brushless motor would run amazing!!! My only concern is that my car with the LiPo gets very warm (motor is kind of berried) and I would imagine this one would have the same issue.

Also, the 1/24 cars are bullet proof BUT you generally need to add oil to the shocks when you get them. Also, they are VERY loud when new because of the metal gears in the front and rear diffs. They do quite down after some driving BUT have HUGE drive-train drag.

My last comment is the get the rally car body!! Why, don't for it's looks BUT because it will actually roll over a lot better than the truck. The truck is very flat along the top.

From my understanding there is some stand-off plastic for the side impact plastic for the Rally/SCT, so the Truggy body may bulge a little on a brushless chassis. From my understanding you can get a body shell and the wheels and you'd be good to go. If you stop by a local hobby store you could probably see it for yourself before you bought the parts.

The truggy is only brushed, so the differences between it and the brushless rally/sct are much bigger. The chassis is the same, but you're right about the nerf bars.
