Funbuild 5 HC 144 Ocean Sentry, U.S. Coast Guard version
The Ocean Sentry, HC 144 is new in our U.S. Coast Guard fleet. About a dozen are in service now and they are replacing the HU 25 jet being used for electronic surveillance. It is based on the Casa 235, being used by many nations around the world.
I did the build from my own plans and what I could find on the internet. The wingspan is 68 inches, length is 51 inches and weight is 6 lbs. 7oz. with a 4000 mah battery installed. The wing is built up and sheeted, working flaps. Fuselage is composite, blue core, depron, epoxy glass nose cone and wing tips. A servo controlled aft ramp for drops. Finish is a combination of lacquer on the wing and acrylic on the fuselage. Power is two Axi 2808-24 motors with 9x4.7 props.
Flights have shown good stablity and takeoff and landing have been easy with straight tracking down the runway. I will try to post a short video soon I hope.
