But does it have twin sticks like the F-14 Navy and does it have more than the usual acro/gilder/heli settings!!! how about a some marine options!!! One of my club mates has built a twin stick Turnigy 9X !!! Total cost less than $100US.....

Bruce,

Send those requests to Horizon in Germany. They "own" the radio and yes, Marine is one of the intended target markets. They need to see some interest before plunking down major cash on new molds.

It shouldn't require any changes to the case just repositioning for some switch locations and install the equivalent twin stick throttle setup, the major diff would be software designed for ship functions such as the various extras scale ship builders like to include such as anchor winches, lights, turrets, etc.

Since it's 2.4, it won't work for all ships. It would be nice to have it control the forward planes in and out, forward torpedo tubes 1-6, missile tubes 1-16, ballast tank, etc. That's why 5 of my 6 subs are on a Futaba 6XAS on 50 Mhz. Sub #6 is the Thunder Tiger NEPTUNE.

The dual stick setup would require tooling of molds - that's where the money investment comes from. Certain software functions could be done to address the use of throttle trim and such.

I have already (in the code) provided for new model types for surface vehicles. Fully implementing them would be a big investment of time.

Being 2.4g, it's usable in all surface vehicles including all ships, but that also prevents its use in submarines because it doesn't penetrate well. The RF system binds with the aircraft DSM2 and DSMX protocols as well as DSM-Marine, so it supports all ARxxx and MRxxx receiver types.

Why does it only come with a 9-channel Rx? Aren't they going to make an 18-channel Rx for it?

I don't know the why's of what goes into a box with the radios. As for them making a rx for it, I have to give a "neither confirm nor deny" answer.

The XPlus channels are on their own "receiver" - it gets a cable from the main receiver into it. It can have a separate power bus, like is done with the JR MatchBox device, so your XPlus functions are separate from the rx's power bus. That'll be real handy for the scale ship modelers so you can run more devices easier.

Had the chance to have a play around with a DX18 the other day, so thought i'd share the sneak peek i had. I also have it next to my DX8 for a littler comparison.
It is a little bigger than the DX8 and the gimbals are even smoother, switchs seem good and easy to get to, yes a real solid feel in your hand. Well worth a look if your after a radio that can do "Everything!" I set it up to fly the Hawker Hurricane, but unlucky for me it was a mode 1 and i'm a mode 2 flyer so i never got to fly a plane with it, still it's a very nice radio thats for sure

Looks like the LCD screen is slightly larger, but they had room to make it even bigger.
