Add H9 Tigermoth 20cc and H9 P-40B (50-size) to the list... Kinda funny, I thought they always announced their new products on Thursdays.

I have told myself the same thing... even though that cub on floats with lights would look great on Lake Hodges! Due out early April too.

The Cub is pricey, but considering it has AS3X, LED set, Flaps, and enough power to tow, I dont mind the price on this one as much as some of the pricing on other micros bother me.
In regards to H9, it really depends on what airframe you are looking at. I have had two, the H9 Hellcat .60 and the Sundowner 50. The SD 50 was designed around both electric and gas power so it came with both gas and electric hardware. I will add that the hardware packages are very thorough. You will only need loctite, CA, Canopy Glue, Epoxy, and a few tools that you probably already have. Pushrods, connectors, linkages, control horns, motor mounts, gas tanks, etc. are all included and do not leave you with needing to go to the store. The .60 size Hellcat was designed for glow and gas and many modifications were going to be required for electric (including making battery hatches, new standoff's for the motor, battery trays, etc). But I feel that most of the newer models over the last 4-5 years are designed around both gas and electric and will include all hardware packages for whichever route you go. Check on the website, if it has recommendations for gas, glow and/or electric, then it will have that hardware included. Which one were you looking at? Are you planing on an electric or gasser? I am a big fan of H9, but I will tell you they do fly a bit on the heavier side. My SD 50 weighs just under 10lbs... but it flys great. |

I really like the H9 warbirds, and the quality of the wood, kits, finish, etc, really is top of the line.
Devils advocate: However, the one thing that always bugged me with the H9 warbirds was the glossy covering. To me, I just dont think it looks right, especially when people try to weather it. If I had not gotten the Top Flite giant, I would be assembling an ESM or a TroyBuiltModels. If you have not yet looked at them, take a peak. They also offer most of their planes in several different schemes and a "Frank Tiano" version- the Frank Tiano versions are more for the person that wants to really be unique with the trim, make their own markings, mods, etc. While the other versions are more like your traditional ARF. For me, I think they have just an unbeatable line of 30cc planes at very fair prices. All can be converted to electric, but likely it may not be as easy as with H9. If you are going for an electric H9, just be sure you get one that was designed with electric also in mind... It was a PIA to have to install hatches and access and trays into the .60 hellcat. Notice how they list "hatches" as a feature on the new 50 size P-40, this was designed with electric in mind ![]() http://hangar-9.com/Products/Default...ProdID=HAN2595 |
