You need to turn it on one way or the other sooner or later.

I was responding to this comment of yours

So how do I know a head of time how many Ch RX I need for wing & tail combo I might choose?
You don't need to have the radio ON to know HOW many channels you are going to need for a particular setup.

A single Aileron wing type = 1 channel
A Dual Aileron wing type = 2 channels. Pretty simple to figure it out.

If you figured you needed a 7ch receiver but the radio but one of the dual controls on channel 8 or 9 then it's just a matter of using the radios Channel Assign screen either move the channel or make a copy of it.

The planes are right side up - the room is upside down.
we were showing someone else the servo locations These are our "fly anywhere in any manner and repair on the spot" models . great for testing and experimenting.

Not usually before plugging things in ?

Ok lots of possibilities Ė are there any typical standards to consider?

A guy showed up at the field one day as a new member but a capable flyer Ė self taught. He was quite surprised that we all pull back on the stick for up elevator; guess in a lot of video games itís opposite Ė so thatís what he did.

I see some similarities in these TXs; but am wondering if some switch locations are considered as a standard/best practice?

Have never use Flight Modes or Heli TXs (my flying bud, till the DX18, always got the Heli version), and now are thinking about what switches should be what on my DX18.

Realized that even though I set them up; I never change the rates on Elevator or Aileron Ė canít even remember whether the left switch is for E or A.

But I do swap rates on Rudder flight at what comfortable; and max for taxing. And find it to be odd that itís switch on the right side!

Does it make any sense to use Switch B the rudderís dual rate?

Iím kind of use to:
A = Gear
D = Spoilers/none/Flaps
E = Flight Idle
Button (I) = Snap

TIA,

Jim

Then how do you know what to plug where? Maybe because HH/Spk labels there receiver as such? Not everybody does this.

And once you have a radio with assignable channels it's not super important BUT since the Spektrum Airware radio RE-NAME the channels to show the control assigned to that channel, why not use this tool thats right in front of you.

You asked if there was a way to know where to plug stuff in , there is and it's in the form of the Servo Monitor Screen.

Sure you can, it's on the first of the two Channel Assignment screens.

I know I'm new to this; but, all I see for reassignment of AUX9 is: REL, LEL, RAL, LAL, AUX5, AUX3, AUX1, Gear, RUD, & Throt.

Why can't it be called AUX9 ?

My DX18 only goes up to AUX5 (10 channels, the first 5 having names).

But I can assign to it:

INH, Throttle, Aileron, Elevator, Rudder, Gear, Aux1 to Aux5, or whatever the channel functions are that are defined by my wing/tail types.

Can you attach your SPM file?

Andy

Not to hard to take off, though I find difficulty putting it back on.

holding the radio ready to fly I invert the radio so the antenna is pointing down and the back bottom is facing up and towards me.
Just a slight pull to open not completely will allow for the cover to tip open slightly to remove the SD card.

It helps but considering the amount of time I take it In&Out when helping others, the DX8 was easier to use in regards to SD card.

With your SPM file I can put the following on AUX5:

Inhibit
Throttle
Rudder
Gear
Aux2
Aux3
Aux5
Left Ail
Right Ail
L Elevator
R Elevator

What am I missing?
