It has always been my understanding since getting the DX8 that the 11ms was on Swash channels sort of speak. But ya at first I did know and assumed 11ms ment on all channels.

I think the 11ms are only for marketing. I doubt that someone would notice the difference.
A highly skilled aerobatic pilot or heli pilot could tell the difference.

If you look back in the begining many new owners would post saying the model felt more responsive and similar.

That's why and in addition to the above normal pilot would/could notice the difference.

On a Cub it probably would not matter, but on my 104 AJSlick, it definitely does matter.

I assume there is a relationship between frame rate and latency.

If the effect on latency is on the order of 11ms, I think you would notice, if, for example, you are actively trying to avoid a mid air with another plane, or recover from a negative attitude with inches to spare.

Otherwise, you're brain will probably just compensate.

I have chased the resolution thing around for a while
On my models even the 120 " stufff - the servos made the biggest difference - followed by the switch to 2.4 at 1024.
I guess some setups at 2048 are noticable - really can't find any issues tho -
What servos are you using on the Slick - at what voltages ?
I use A123 direct feed and the " feel" is razor sharp
On my son's F3A competition model - again you really can't find any dullness - it also has the high end Spektrum digitals on direct A123 power. .

I agree...my biggest feel changes have come with fast digital servos and running 6.6volt direct.

Have you tried HV Digital servos on 8.4v? Steroids!

Yeh -I always wonder how guys flying on old 4.8 volt systems - using servos best used for paperweights - can suggest they need 2048 resolution-
I went thru the wretched 512 radios. the servos sounded like they were grinding nuts.
For the most part - you can tell how the servos are going to perform by just listening to em.
The higher the pitch- the better the performance.

Just hope she never reads this stuff
You may get the chance to compare performance--at an early date.
That can bea very costly experience.

Off Topic: Man Test

OK, admittedly this is off-topic, but the recent messages make me wonder about the sanity of our esteemed colleague who is so helpful - hobby-wise, but maybe not so helpful - relationship-wise.

Man Test (strong correlation w/relationship longevity):
If a man states his opinion, in the middle of an RC field, and there is no woman around to correct him, is he still wrong?

Immediate response required; don't take time to think about it.
R1: Yes, of course
R2: Why would he be wrong?
R3: It depends...

Long relationship chaps tend to immediately respond "Yes..."

Note: I did not say whether the respondee has to believe the answer, just how did their mind immediately respond. :-)
