The Y cable works great. Doing it the other way, you need 3 hands.

Whoops. I never came back with an update here in this thread. At some time I moved over to the "secret" DX18 thread, as many others did. Here is a short summary of what happened for those who only follow this thread:
I (or rather, my lhs) sent in the radio. After a couple of weeks, I was notified that I would get a replacement radio. That radio came earlier this week, and it works perfectly. I logged a short testflight a few days ago, and the result is available in the "secret" thread, here: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showp...&postcount=800

Furthermore, I had a specific aircraft out today. The one that gave me 3 holds (and countless antenna fades) with the other DX18. Today it only gave me 31 antenna fades on the internal and somewhat less on the satellite. But the big surprise was that it only had one single frame loss (and of course no holds).

That's how it should be

Today I was on a new field with the big fat lady (T-Rex 700). Large flying, 40 fades in sum. Nothing else.

I couldn't figure this out at the field--first day using the DX18 in flight, but is there a way to keep the sounds on when trimming, but turn them off for everything else? I made the mistake of turning the sound back on while flying 3D, and the darn transmitter kept beeping everytime I crossed 25% throttle since that was what was controlling my timer. Hate that! Hate it hate it hate it. But I find the beeps for trimming very useful.

It's all or nothing.

Why not just set the start timer to one time start?

I've enjoyed that song since I was young. My kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Wieghorst, drove a Rambler. It was definitely a "grandmother's car" and she was so short she probably needed a booster seat to see over the wheel. I can't listen to that song w/o fond memories of her.

O.K., time for an allegory: which is the Fuh, Tah, Bah, and which the DX 18?
