Ok, help me out with that.. what is a ASK rx?
thanks

The scale UMX ASK-21 sailplane - with AS3X! It uses the same basic brick as the Spit (including the brushed ESC), but with a different gyro orientation & different programming. Things are getting interesting!

Sorry, as Joel said, it's the receiver in the ASK-21 glider that Horizon just gave us. Like all the new airplanes that came out, it's based on a real airplane.

You can find more information about the company that make this full scale glider here: Alexander Schleicher company

You'll find quite a few "ASK" aircrafts, including some powered gliders.

Ah, i read it as two boards in the spit perpendicular to each other. yeah, if the Spit brick is vertical that does avoid the motor submarineing the Rx and breaking the trace, very good. might make replacing the motor with the SX a little easier than in the Polecat too

Please forgive my noobness, but will my old DX5e work with this model?

It says "2.4 GHz DSM Spread Spectrum Technology" on the TX case.

I suspect that I need a newer TX?

Thanks,

RF

I suspect this AS3X technology is going to breath a bit of ew life in to the DX5e Tx. It has no expo settings available on it, but with the new tech, the planes apparently don't require it. As they are all micro models, 5 channels is more than enough to fly them, so the DX5e, being cheap and full range, is a great option.

Just a musing. I can't WAIT for this little bird. A must purchase for me. Looks amazing.

Marlin

Why not use a BL motor?
would it have added so much to the price?

it probably would add a good amount to the price. the reason why i like the brushed ones better is the speed. i don't have enough space for a brushless plane to be zipping around.
