Yeah, I would have thought that an engined up (ie mk IX) Spitfire would easily have been able to do nice loops from level flight.

With the gear down?

I would suppose that the majority of "normal" aircraft flying at "normal" cruise speed would have to add power and lower the nose to pick up a certain airspeed before doing a loop, as I have to do with my little Spitfire.

so even without LG so less weight and less wind resistance the Spit has a very hard time with the 4 blade prop doing a nice controlled scale loop
so with the LG the performance will be even less
My stock P-51 did loop after loop after loop

I am going to try the P-51 prop on my Spit later today. I need to keep my job so not much flying right now

I really hope this helps and opens up some light on things

Perosnally I would go to a Bravo motor before going to a two blader. More power and still keep the scale look.

newbeflyer, this is a common trait with the UMs that use one servo and a bellcrank for ailerons.

But the only time you can actually count/see the blades is with the motor stopped...I like scale just as much as the next guy but I like performance more...How about flying with the more efficient 2 blade prop and then proudly display the model with 4 blade unit in place???...I've done this in the past with a few of my models...
