Robyn, 37 inch, 2 ch , high wing.....if 15 to 20 oz weight, then an .049 engine is fine. Not a .32, unless you beef it up for U/C.
And yes, I think Tom was very correct with the Thermal Hopper--aka Cox .049, 1960.

I'm confused

The Thermal Hopper is indeed a Cox engine but I think Robyn was asking about a plane called Hopper. Robyn, do you have the plans or the name of the designer?

Robyn, your model looks like a small sports/trainer which were popular in the 1970s.

Is this your first r/c model? If so it's a bit small for a trainer and I'd recommend one with a 5-6ft (1.5-1.8metre) wingspan.

As for engine size a modern 32 glow would be far too powerful for such a small airframe. My first model had a 50" (1.27metre) wingspan and was powered by an Irvine 20 and even that was too fast. I built a Junior 60 and put the engine in that and learned to fly.

If a 32 is the recommended size for this model it could refer to an engine of 3.2cc or.19 cu.ins. For a model of this size I would personally use nothing bigger than a 15 (2.5cc.)

I can't make it out clearly but it at the top left-hand corner it looks as if it says that the motor is 2,5cc. So Monza is correct.
