I've got two of them from Atoms which were converted to brushless. PM me your info and I'll send you one of them as I doubt I'll ever use them for anything.

If your timing was better I could just drop it off as I'm heading through Lexington in a few months to do some rock climbing at Red River Gorge.

Here's a new one that's somewhat heavy, but it's cheaper than the combo you linked. Rotsa Ruck.
I have that one in my Hobby Zone Super Cub to run the stock motor. It'd be way too heavy for the Atom. Not to mention you'd have a hard time stuffing it inside the fuselage.

Hi everyone!

Finally got around to flying my Atom a few days ago, I thought it was a tad underpowered, so I immediately wrenched the stock motor out, and glued on a C20 2050kv outrunner from HobbyKing. After one flight that motor has given up, so I'm on the hunt for a new motor, and of course it's almost Chinese NY! So I don't really want to order one from HK unless I can find it in the UK warehouse

I found this one: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...arehouse_.html which someone in the comment section said worked well in the Atom...

If anyone has any recommendations it would be fantastic, I really want to get this great wee plane back in the air I've got a Turnigy 12A ESC installed btw.

Cheers guys, and thanks for the great thread!

I was thinking of adding ailerons, I've only got one little servo at the moment, and was looking at maybe mounting that under the motor pylon, one long double ended horn sticking out both sides.
Would that work?

Will definitely order one of those when they re-stock, hopefully soon, but for now I managed to scavenge another C20 from my Mini SkyWalker, so I've stuck that on for now

Will see how it flies tomorrow,
Cheers matey!

Me & a friend use these in our Atoms

Have had 2 of the 3800kv motors fail, probhably from overheating: flying at constant full power in wind. Possibly overproped as well.
My 2900KV is still going strong.

I used thread tolls to show attachments. That let me view any possible single servo aileron mods. Came up with this post http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showp...&postcount=191

Upgraded the motor last night to a C20 2050kv from HobbyKing, thanks to everyone for their suggestions, I just happened to have a spare C20 lying around so I used that one

I ran some tests with a TGS/EMP 4.5x4.5E prop.

2s: Power = 35W, Amp draw = 4.5A.

3s: Power = 67W, Amp draw = 6.6A.

Flew it today on the 3s, awesome little plane now! I let me spotter have a shot, nose dived from about 20m and snapped the wing and the motor pod off, 5 mins with a glue gun and I was flying again!

Then Turnigy 9x crapped out and nose dived the Atom again, snapped off the motor pod for a 2nd time, another few minutes with the glue gun and I'm good to go again

So happy with this plane, under $40 delivered from the UK Warehouse, amazing!

Here are a few pics:
