The AMG is really fun now that I have it set up right. I was doing slow passes only 1-2ft off the ground today.

I think I tried to fly the HK Atom in way too high of wind. A huge gust flipped over the plane and smashed it right into the ground. The tiny little control surfaces didn't have any affect. Of course we're talking about the Atom, so the repair took less than 2 minutes without including glue drying.

Yeah, I took mine out in fairly low winds, but it still got blown about, and had difficulty flying into the wind!
Great that it's so tough.

The most fun part of flying this plane is that you can actually do TG's on grass.

It's looks like the Atom has been discontinued. Most of the warehouses are showing 0 stock with no estimate time for a new shipment. You can still order it, but that would be risky since you might never get the plane.

Does anyone know the actual name of the non-hobbyking branded plane?

I recently bought the V Tail Vector 850 http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s..._EPO_PNF_.html
Ok, it's $20 more than the Atom but you get a brushless motor & esc and aileron servos. Throw in a 3s 800 pack as it's great fun
Vector 850 Skysurfer 25Nov12 (5 min 1 sec)

The cogging was down to some loose motor/esc bullets now cured. So if you are looking for a compact pusher model then it's a good alternative.

The Spirit mini glider also is alternative, but both of them are much more expensive than the Atom. I also found that Hobbyking actually produces the Atom and it's larger brother, the AXN themselves. At least that's what Alibaba says.

I went onto the hobbyking live chat and asked them if the Atom is discontinued. They insisted it was still available and that new stock should arrive within 30 days. I'm not so sure about that since it's probably a canned response.

Looks like it's also sold under the name of the "Joysway Sprite" https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=Jo...hrome&ie=UTF-8
and they also do a 1600mm and a 1100 mm version http://www.joysway-hobby.com/Product_show.asp?proid=495

Amazing that you found that! So the atom isn't produced by the same company who makes the AXN?

You have to laugh at the awful names these chinese planes have. Is the "Joysway Freeman" related to Morgan Freeman?
