Hva ebeen flying helis for a while..And practicing on the sim with a plane so hopefully the first flight will be succesful. No elevator when hand launching will try to remember that.

I would also launch it like a chuck glider. Full power and a nice firm launch at 30 degs up into wind will get you some height and airspeed.

i hope your co-ordination on a controller is superior to the keyboard accuracy you have just demonstrated, or it will end in tears

It's been over two weeks and we still haven't gotten any good weather to maiden the Atom. Hopefully the crappy Fall weather calms down soon...

Well I've completely glued mine back together, the only thing is I don't have any more props. Which ones do I order off the Hobby King website? I don't want to have to change the motor, maybe just an alu-cone and prop combo. Seriously this plane is awesome, I just used some 3m adhesive glue and like tac welded mine back together.

Scratch built this instead, already had everything. It's my version of the Blu Beagle, only smaller and not in blue foam, so I'm calling it a 'Pup'.

............can fetch a smile no problem

It's a learner friendly, high motor ,pusher RET trainer made from EPP foam that's cheap and easy to build and cheap to equip. If goldguy has designed it you just know it will fly well.
Let 2 complete novices fly my Atom today. They couldn't get used to having to input opposite commands after every turn and I must admitt that I've 2 3.7g servos on stand by that I'll fit to give me ailerons. Also have a 6amp b/less esc and b/less motor ready to install. I think she will be a much nicer model & easier to fly model thus equiped

I bet it handles much better than the Atom. I gave mine another go today, but the brushed motor just doesn't have enough umph to suit me. It sinks like a pig in turns and has virtually no tail authority short of WOT.

I'll most likely put it on the shelf until I feel the spirit move me to do a brushless and aileron conversion.

Well, I have just fitted the 3.7g aileron servos and they fit nicely inside the wing on their edge. I decided to add 3mm depron ailerons re-enforced with 3x1 mm carbon rather than cut into the wing. This will add a little to the chord and I've always got the option to increase if I need more authority.
