Looks like it's finally out.

Edge 540 V3 - HobbyKing Skunkwerks Series (3 min 35 sec)

What do you think of this? Worth the risks and trouble, or shell out a few bucks more for something that is already proven?

I think HK and some other manufactures are starting to up the quality. But it is also upping the price. $102.00 + ~30 for shipping == $132 for this huck, vs $150 + ~20 shipping = 170 for the 3dhs 48" huck. That's pretty close in price. $50 gets you a Known airframe with airfoil on the tail.

the covering schemes on the HK do look really nice though.

I've got the Money shot in a box waiting for spring to build. So far I'm impressed with the quality vs price of it. I KNOW it's not the BEST quality, but for the price I wanted a slow flying bash around 3d plane that I'm not worried about destroying.

Looking forward to a better video. That one jumped around alot. Very interested in seeing how it does in slow harriers and elevators. :-)

I just got a reply from 3DHS that they do not ship outside of US and only accept US credit cards. I can bypass those 2 limitations, but it would add to the cost quite a bit.
As such, I have to seriously consider this plane.

Status, looking forward to your review. I hope this does not have the same problem with the HK Sbach 342 1400mm balsa that you experienced.

If they release one in the redbull color scheme, I will click the buy button in a heartbeat. I thought he mentioned about the redbull scheme in the video.

Nope.
Ef distributes here through Desert Aircraft. 3dhs stuff can be shipped via adc hobbies in the USA .

Still cost us more for both brands compared to USA delivery.

48" Edge is 154.99 + shipping To Canada so its too much for me, i can have the Hobbyking edge loaded at that price.

My old one was Electryfly (GreatPlanes) 41" and was 109 + shipping, the hobbyking one is 102$ (48") for me because i have spent too much money on the store... lol

Nice looking Edge 540! Too bad they don't offer one in the 53"-58" wingspan range!
Then I would really consider it.
I've been looking for a reasonably priced Edge 540 in the 50" wingspan range to put a 5s Lipo pack into.
So far, everyone else is just too expensive or doesn't offer an appealing monocoat design that I would want.

Yes! Yes! Yes! I was going to start a thread if no one else was. This one is definitely worth a look! HK really stepped up their game with the V3! I personally like the red/white scheme better than the Canadian. Looks a lot like the scheme on the 3DHS 51" Slick.

I can't wait for reivews and flight videos! Hope she does better than the Sbach!

What is problem with HK Sbach you are all talking about? I read something couple of weeks ago that it was imposible to make CG as it should, without extra weight? Do you think it is possible that this V3 have same problem?
