Would you like a copy of the build manual?

Full rib spacing matches the notches in the training edge 1/2 ribs go in between

Just a side note,

On some of the 1/4 inch wood, the laser didn't make it completely through. I don't want to turn the heat up any higher because it causes the tips to burn off of the really detailed pieces and increases the kerf that the laser burns away. The pieces can be easily removed with a VERY SHARP, NEW #11 X-Acto blade or similar blade. Do NOT use an old blade or you will crush the wood or break it and the pieces will not fit as they should. Just follow the laser cut on the top and go slow.

Take your time. You can even gently rock the wood back and forth until you get the piece out. Don't force anything or you will break it.

If you get a piece that you can't get out or break something send me an email and I will send out a new piece to you.

Happy building!

Regards,
Dave

I'm not on the Beta team, but can you put a few extra "stars" on there somewhere? I broke several of them.

Sure thing Jim..

I'm experimenting with several different techniques, but the deal is that the laser's focus is on the surface of the wood, so the thicker the wood, the wider the beam gets at the bottom. That's what contributes to thicker kerfs and larger exit burns on the bottom. I try to keep the heat to a minimum when I burn, to just barely break through to the bottom and on wood that has inconsistent grain, sometimes you get a few spots that don't burn through all the way. I throw the really bad ones away, but at 15+ minutes burn time per 1/ 4 sheet, it gets old.

Like I said, if anyone has any issues with the wood let me know and I will send some new parts out. I'm here to please.

Regards,
Dave

I didn't mean make any or send any to me. I just glued them back together around the spar after I built the rest of the wing.

Understood, you were asking me to put a few "extra" stars on the sheets.

Holy cow!! Does it take that long on all sheets or just the 1/4" stuff? I had no idea it takes that long to cut parts, I figured you slapped it in there and had a cut sheet in about 5 minutes

Tres, These are cut times to the exact second.

Rib1: 11 min 35 seconds (2 sheets of 1/16 Balsa)
Rib 2: 6 min 19 seconds (2 Sheets, but I cut 6 sets at a time)
Plycut: 28 min 04 seconds (2 sheets)
Webcut: 15 minutes 55 seconds ( 2 sheets 1/4 in)
Equipbal: 12 min 44 sec (4 sets on 2 X 1/8 sheets)
Tailcut: 14 min 20 sec (2 X 3/16 $1.16 wood cost)

One kit takes 39 min 13 seconds to cut. The above figures are for cutting 2 sheets at a time, side by side. The laser cuts one sheet then moves up to the other sheet. They aren't cut at the same time. Then there is packing, hardware kits, carbon rod cutting, shipping, sorting the wood, cutting 48" sheets down to 24", swapping the wood in and out, printing packing slips..... on and on... etc..

There is no glory in being the laser guy... he he I need to expand.. he he I need another machine... Wish I had the work to support the one I have right now!
