A50 12 L V2 timing
On the manual it says Hacker recommends 20-25 degrees of timing. I'm set for 5 degrees on a Castle ICE 100 (using a 6s 5000mAh and 20x10 prop) and temps are low and everything is good. My ESC will also only go up to 20 degrees for timing. Is this a typo or should I bump up the timing. Of course I'd hook it up to a watt meter and check temps before putting it in the air. Thanks.

Acutally, the "Timing" number on a castle ESC is kind of a mis-nomer. It does not reflect actual timing in degrees like ours and other controllers.
The Castle ESC's have a really good "Auto-Timing" algorithim. They detect the motor's inductance when first powered on, and set a "Nominal" timing amount based on that inductance.
The setting you see displayed there is simply a timing "Range" that the ESC can move within from whatever nominal setting it chose.
Upon powering up, the castle ESC determines that the inductance of the Hacker motor should run at 20 degrees. If you set the Timing to "Low - 0", then the ESC will keep the timing at 20 degrees. However, if you were to set it to "Normal - 5", then the ESC may adjust timing (based on RPM) as low as 17 degrees, or as high as 22 degrees. This MIGHT allow better efficiency depending on how the motor is designed electrically.
With many motors, this is an excellent feature and helps produce more RPM with less input power.
Occasionally, this feature is not compatible with a certain motor, so we simply have it set to "Low - 0" for best results.
In your application, setting it to "Normal - 5" should be fine.
