Is Carl using it for his rec or esc? He only needs one for his rec but esc I'd run more than one or a bank of caps like everyone suggested. I have a feeling its for his esc. If it is try to find a low ESR (equivalent series resistance). Also a cap with a high voltage rating would be perfect to avoid damage when braking. I may have a couple in my box if he wants specific numbers or brands to buy.

He didn't race due to a electronic problem is what he told us. His table was behind ours. I never found out where he was from. A couple of drivers tried to help him but he pulled out from the race. My bets are on the esc.

Most change their esc and rec before the cap goes bad. Caps go week then end up blowing. It's one of those items in racing where people forget to monitor.

Most add capacitor banks to the ESC or reciever to help smooth the voltage sag that circuits see when under a heavy amp draw. The capacitor acts as a reservior to store current under lighter loads and then release current under heavier loads to even out voltage sag. Brownouts from sudden acceleration can actually cause some recievers to reset. This can cause a blackout in reception and a loss of control. Capacitor banks can fix this problem. Didn't your esc come with a cap or bank?

We never tested them because they weren't out when we started modified brushless class. I can see if we can pull specs up online or if someone wants to post it. They do make a 5200 which make them legal.
