Joe,
Hope your back gets better soon.

For me I like the white one with a small wing, perfect motor position for a model

Bill,
Lateral thinking, you will be able to get the perfect motor position for sure

Regards

Rich

Going to try and mount my shroud to the motor the same as you after I get the vac-forming done
Still grounded with my back but on the mend

Dave's Avian update
Dave has had an attempt at a maiden, with the field wet and muddy it gave him some problems with the wheels looking like mud pies but he persevered and had a few attempts with a couple of rollovers he reports that the shroud makes a great safety bar on the last go it pitched up but he managed to get it on the ground with no damage since then he has removed the motor from the body and mounted the shroud directly to the motor now he can change the thrust angle sorry no video but he promises video the next time

Nearly 4 weeks of pain killers and no building very frustrating
Anyway got a little done to fix the shroud to the model
I changed it to the same as Bill and Daves idea so that I can make adjustments to the thrust line.
Dave has had another try with the Avian but the field conditions were still bad he is waiting for better weather but added that it made a great leaf blower

Hi Jeff
Unless the model flew exceptionally well I do not think I would consider a construction plan but that should not stop anyone building there own version
The models might end up as Dave says makes a good leaf blower

Wow Joe :
Did you notice that that prop seems to fit in a channel inside the shroud with a black rubber gasket, That shroud must be pretty ridged as not to interfere with the prop. That is one tight fit and hard to center.

Bit of a disaster set the model up with the watt meter and as I got to about half throttle BANG and the rudder landed the other side of the room at first I thought I hadn't tightener the prop but on checking what had happened I seen that the shaft had broke at the grove where the cir-clip fits so new shaft or motor needed I think I will fit a new motor

Every time I start an engine or arm an electric motor I am very careful not to be in the arc of the prop just in case it decided to leave the aircraft
Only the balsa rudder was knocked off but glued back no problem the prop and broken shaft stayed inside the shroud
