Fuselage

I'd like to be further along than this, but building is part of the fun, so there really is no harm in taking my time. So far here is what I got done of the fuse.

Nope! I need a power 46. Maybe a brand new one for a trade of my new ice100?

Alright, a good friend of mine is going to trade a new Power46 for my new CC Ice100. He was also very kind and gave me two 4s2650 flat profile lipo's if I understood him right. I test fitted the two lipos and with little mods, I can get them to fit in from the bottom in front of the landing gear and behind the firewall. They will be laying flat between those two points. Whats your thoughts on the location?

Yeah you can have those nano-techs because I think I'm getting a good deal for your ice100. They were great for the first 4-5 months of use but then couldn't put out the amps anymore for 3d but would probably be good for a scale cub.

Sweet John. Thanks! Ok, I guess Diggity can buy the slick from you instead of me.

Thanks Chuck! This is only my second stick build real RC plane. When I was younger I built lots of guillows rubber band powered planes with tissue, but honestly, this is on a different level. I've got an even harder kit I'll start working on later. A Puppeteer based off of the WWI Sopwith Pup. Its going to be really hard for me. I might save it for next winter.

Just an update as to where I am. I've had to fiddle with the wood on the fuselage a little more than I would like. I really don't like the whole fuselage being "sheeted" and the cowl is smaller than the plans show. I'll do my best, but some things just are not lining up properly.

Skyline,
Here's the mod I did to mine.
Cut away the orange part on top, and take away half the width or the former sides too for easier access. You won't need all that meat since there's no fuel engine shaking it apart.

Glue in a liteply shelf to velcro strap the batteries onto (green). On mine, the rear of the batteries were about 2 inches behind that former.

So I had to decide on how I would access the lipos. Would it be by removing the wing each and everytime? Through a window? How about a battery hatch on the bottom? If so, where would I put it. After scratching my head for many many days and taking lots of measurements, this is where I decided it would go. I also designed the box that it would accomodate 2 4s2650's (narrow and long) OR 2 4s2200's (short and fat). If for some reason the plane ends up being nose heavy, I can easily move the battery box's rear further into the fuselage and use some foam to keep the battery from moving forward. Until I get this plane fully built, I won't know whether or not I made a mistake on the battery location.
