Hi Warren,

Great overview and conclusions about the Willow. I'm 100% inline with your comments.
I don't remember if I posted this video on RCgroups:

Willow F3F and JR propo XG8 (5 min 2 sec)

Cheers,

Pierre

Hi Warren

Great to hear that you're enjoying the Willow. All the feedback is put into the next models. We have the servo trays made for the Willows over here and I have some spares to cut down on the building time. The landing strength of the WIllows is probably a reflection of my own skills:-)

I'm realy enjoying flying my Willows (yep I'm biassed) for racing and sport flying, putting a smile onn my face every time I fly.

cheers

Ian

That's a fantastic slope and great footage; kudos to the cameraman Pierre. A great advert for the XG8 and the Willow.

How many slopes do you have around Grenoble? We have 2 within 1hrs driving distance.

The video have been shooted with onboard GoPro, helmet GoPro and a Lumix FZ100 (bridge).

Well, I have 10+ slopes within 1 hour driving distance. Choosing the right slope depends of the season, wind speed, wind direction, snow, etc ...
The nearest is at 15mn drive.

Yesterday, I drove to the slope where we will organize the french F3F championship. Wheater forecast looked good, but when we arrived, the slope was in the clouds with 6į C

we waited 30 to 45 minutes. The sky cleared and we had a great flying session in a wonderfull place and landscape.

I'm lucky to live in the alps

Cheers,

Pierre

I haven't compiled all my posts in a single article. But using the "search this blog" function on planet-soarng you will easily find all the relevant posts.

Hope this is OK.

The Willow build is near bottom of front page and continues on 2nd page of the planetsoaring site.
I flew Willow more at Fermin, and I have been giving it quite the thrashing. No problems. Having a little more "relaxing" time, has also let me learn more about using my radio (Airtronics SD10G) as well, and finding out how much influence differential, rudder mix, etc. has on flight characteristics.

Another on board video made with the Willow, and the RD32II, a cheap alternative to the GoPro model 1.
The slope is the one where the french F3F championship will be next week in case of south wind.

RD32II test with on board camera (3 min 57 sec)

Stunning scenery and great video

If I may ask, where did you source the camera from? I've had a little look online and drawn a blank.

Many thanks I'm searching for a cheap alternative to a GoPro and this may fill that role.

Flew Warrens Willow today and didn't want to give it back. It flies just like my RaceM but a bit more precise and probably a bit faster as well. I think it is just the right size for F3F.
Only improvement it could need is a 2 piece V-tail for transport.

Agreed on the one piece v-tail. I often haul my gear round on trains and buses (even a mountain bike. That tail is the only thing stopping me hitting the "buy" button right now.
