I have been lurking on this thread for quite somethime.

A group of us from SoCal did a group buy through Soaring USA. I think we are one of the first one's to get the new removable V-Tail....and I'm about to start my Willow build.

Gonna use the KST DS125 for the wing servos. Picked up these servo frames from Ward Hagaman for the wing servos so I can get em back out as needed. They turned out pretty cool.....lots of gluing area, very sturdy, made out of aluminum. I liked that they are full frames (no u-shaped) and fully capture the servo, so the load on the serovo is passed directly to the frame (ie, even without the fasteners installed, the frame will not let the servo rotate).

So, I am a slow builder, but I am planning to start putting this baby together in a couple of weeks!

Dan, are the holes taped already or is that up to the builder?

All three holes are tapped to a 4-40 thread.

2 more batteries done at the slope today, great performance!
I am having about 5 or 6 full power climbs with loads of glide time and then when landing I still have 50% left in the batterry....
I cant see me flying this one in the park - its just too big.... But we'll see - watch this space, a trip to Richmond Park might be in order....???

Mine arrived the other day. Carbon Version. Setup will be MKS 6100 on ailerons and V tail with Airtronics 94761Z on flaps. Frsky RX and Eneloop XX 2500mah 4.8V pack. Very Impressed with the build quality. Cant wait to get it built.

Had a chance to test fit my Willow servo frames tonight.

Servo bay opening is normally about 1.5" square. I used my dremel to open up the bay sill around the top mounting ears and the servo output shaft to make installation removal of the servo easier.....still have plenty of sill to support the servo cover!

A couple of folks have pm'd me for some installation pictures.....so here's what I got so far:

Hi guys

Am I the first one to report a broken Willow? Well, after a nice flying on the slope I did a spot landing like in F3J. After examination of the plane a noticed a broken wing joiner and left wing root. The fuselage was without a scratch. I will have to order a new joiner.

Unfortunately not. This is a protected mountain plateau Velika planina. No cars are allowed eventhough there is a mountain road. You can reach the flying site with a cable car and a 30 minute walk. Or you can do hiking from the valley which takes around two hours. The mountain has wonderful scenery and rich history. We stayed on the mountain for two days and did a lot of flying. The accomodation is only 200m away. Unfortunately I broke Willow's joiner on the first day.
I will post more pictures in the coming days.... .

Hey, happened to me as well on a hard landing, but i have to say that i was happy breaking the joiner - better then breaking the wing or fuse. Tony from Sloperacer was very helpful and promptly sent me a new one..

It was a deliberate idea to have the joiner the size that it is. I much preffer flying models where the joiner is the 'fuse' to save the fuselage and wing rather than being the only surviving part. bbut that's going off topic, Tony at sloperacer has some joiners- both 3 and 6 degrees.
