You can use #2 round or oval head wood screws but they are a smidge too big and require enlarging the motor flange holes.

3/8" in length is good unless you are using fuel tube standoffs for thrust adjustment - then go with 1/2 or preferably 5/8".

Servo screws it is, then! Mounting the motor tonight! LIKE A BOSS!!!

Wow! I just read all 329 pages of this thread over the last few days. What an amazing airframe! I'm hooked and have to have one. I was directed here by quite a few people from the 48-in Scale EPP Edge-540 Co-developed by Wattaplane and Skywing thread.

I really love that plane but haven't flown 3d before (mostly pusher prop jets). Ive also never bought a palne before as all mine are scratchbuilt from depron. The Crack Yak was suggested as a very flyable, durable, and great plane to learn and advance with. I think it looks like a ball of fun!
Thinking about the TH 26g motor on 2s with 9x4.7 prop. You think it would be a big deal,to use 9g tower pros for all 3 servos, or make the effort to pickup the 5gs?

You could go 9g all around but it'll add more weight to the tail end of the plane. With the recomended gear it's a fun plane to learn on and fly. Keep plenty of batteries and some welders handy. Good luck.

So, how is the performance on 2S vs 3S on the stock power setup?

I'm flying a similar-sized foamy on 3S here, but it's a little junky and almost certainly significantly heavier than a new Crack Yak would be.

2S is very strong and lite, 3S is over the top power. I like 3S! ;D

But this way once you try 3S you will wish you hadn't ordered so many 2S

^ That's why I'm trying to decide... I only have one 3S that would work in this plane, so I'm open to whichever works better assuming I can find some way to get lipos over here. Sounds like 3S is the way to go since POWER GOOOOOOOD

EDIT: What would be an acceptable size range for 3S? I know I can get 325's over here but that's awfully small. I have an 850 but that's too big...

I run 2s and 3s in the 450 to 500 range on my fleet. Gens Ace and Sky Lipo. Couldn't make up my mind between the two so I went for both.

I'm running 2S 450mah and 3S 380mah which weigh the same as the 2S. I set my timer for 4.5 minutes on the 3S but don't rush down so probably getting a little short of 5 mins with a resting voltage of about 3.8V per cell and around 80% to recharge. I get an easy 6 out of the 2 cell setup to the same level. The 325's would probably work but they would have to be at least a true 25C to handle 8A continuous and your flight times would be suitably shorter. My guess would be around 4 minutes

Kris...so I assume that means yes, it's been discussed

What would be best as a first 3d plane? Mini or regular?

Heres the thread for the mini. I would say one of the regular 32inch would be better for a first 3Der

My 4 2s are still up for sale, funny that, no one wants to buy them.

Seriously, id go 3S, unless you are newbie (like i was). 3S is much more fun.

Lugnutz, i use a Go Pro Hero 2.
