Yes...the proto. Ive never had epp foam retaiin its rigidness like this, and I've flown in snow rain, you name it. Typically epp breaks down over time and more resembles a wet noodle, but not this stuff. IDK what they do to this stuff, but I love it.

Not recommended. 3S setup should use the 8" prop. You might get away with the 3S if you dial down the the throttle endpoint so you don't over amp the ESC.

Sorry, but this is not a good practice. The ESC is basically a switch with high frequency, so it will briefly see full amperage (plus the heat generated by the switching) even when operated at part throttle. Use a 8" prop!

As a beginner one of the things I like best about the CY is that using the recommended motor, esc, prop has taken all the guesswork out of tuning the plane.

So I know it's me and not the plane!

Watt Test Numbers

Well just placed my order for the Crack Yak gold, 26g motor, CS90D digital 9g servo, etc. Can't wait!!!

For those interested, here are some watt numbers (same prop swapped, same pack swapped) comparing a brand new 26g Twisted motor on my buddies Pitts, vs the Turnigy 2730 on my Leadfeather 3D EPP Yak 55. Testing done on almost new (2 cycles) Gens Ace 450mAh 3s.

Turnigy 2730-1500kv:
8x4DD
10.61a
10.59v
112.7w

Turnigy 2730-1500kv:
8x4.3SF
12.39a
10.29v
128.1w

26g Twisted Hobby 1450kv:
8x4.3SF
13.87a
10.16v
141.6w

Went to test the 8x4DD on the 26g but the prop adapter oring broke and sent her sailing! Lol. That 26g is impressive. Didnt have my tach there for rpm but I'm almost positive it's a little higher kv than listed. Both have insane ballistic over-the-top power on 3s, and are great on the 9x4.7SF 2s indoor setup. You won't go wrong with either motor!

There is a possibility you used more glue than necessary toward the tail end or variances in the foam density to cause the need for the battery to be further forward than it is on some others. The important thing is it balances in the right place regardless of battery position. 110mm behind the leading edge is probably too far back for most peoples taste. Herc's original suggestion of 82ish mm behind the leading edge works a treat for me. Have you got your esc and rx as far forward as you can get them? as long as your pack doesn't clash with the aileron servo your good to go.

Managed to grab a single pack before darkness fell. We are approaching the shortest day of the year, gets dark at 4.15, so not much chance for flying. I could hardly see the plane at all, let alone fly.

Crack Yak in the Dark (3 min 35 sec)

Anyone else see this? It's copied/pasted from DW's web site. It appears that whoever wrote this is on Crack! Advertising coming in at 10 oz. for a 31" foamy...wow!

The first of two designs to the hit the streets is the REHAB, getting you off the Crack YAK and into REHAB will not only improve your flying skills, but it will also be the next step for getting into larger airframes.

The REHAB is designed to be a throw around beater foamie for small spaces. The wing spans 31 and comes in under 10 ounces.

Well if the Pitts wasnt enough fun, the Crack Yak on 3S is just as great. In yer face, tail touches and hand catches galore in this one.

Crack Yak Rocks!

Hand Catch (6 min 14 sec)

Of course, full screen vimeo for glorious 1080P full HD.
