I usually do but yesterday was about 15 gusting 30. Nasty. I work 2.5 miles from APA's runway threshold. You know it's windy when a business jet is crabbing 10 degrees on final approach and can see the ailerons fighting to keep her aligned on the glideslope.

ESC problem with basically new Extra Slick

Please watch the demo of the problem below I do not know how to fix. I am not well versed in power systems, I'm a sailplane flyer mostly. Right from the start when this was brand new in the Spring 2012 I've had a problem where I get this up in the air and as soon as I start wiggling the sticks a little the prop cuts out. This happens on a fully charged battery. I have 2 Lipo's and it happens with both of them. As far as I can tell I've programmed the ESC properly for Lipo. The ESC is not labelled but came with the power system ordered through Twisted Hobbys.

Any ideas? Please help, thanks!

Mike

How old are your batteries? If they are a bit old may want to try a new one. They could just be weaker. If that doesn't solve it I would contact brad and ship the esc back and have it checked out or replaced. Double check all the connections too if there is a loose one it may be trying to pull more current than is actually needed dragging the battery down. I had a similar issue on m Pitts and replacing the esc fixed it.

That sounds like a cold joint in the motor or ESC. Send them to brad and he will fix them.

Ok now that I've really watched the video. Definetly replacing the esc will fix that. Highly doubt it's the motor. I had a very similar issue with mine.

Shouldn't there have been 2 beeps on start-up for a 2s battery?

Try to reset the ESC. Turn on the TX and go to full throttle, Then plug in the battery on the plane and wait for the beeps. Then throttle to zero. You should be good to go.

mikeumr, its possible you have an older ESC which may be causing this issue. Give Twisted Hobbys a call or email, I have a feeling they can help.
