Thanks for the CG notes. Gonna fly tomorrow, so...

Since I'm not using LG, I inserted a bit of plastic tubing under the fuse to protect the bottom of the rudder.

I use a piece of 2mm carbon rod for tail skids in cases like that.

Since you have both the Edge and the Yak, which one feels/flies more like balsa to you?

When I don't have landing gear I spread a thin layer of welders along the bottom of the plane ( nose to rudder) never had any damage to the bottom of plane.Keep it thin almost no weight.

CF makes sense, but I don't have any. The plastic tube flexes a bit, too, which should make for less stress. :dunno

I'm not the guy to ask about balsa. I've never flown nor owned a balsa plane - yet. I just started in this hobby last summer and have flown only foam.

That said, looking at them side by side, clearly the Crack should be stiffer on the vertical plane of the fuse, especially at the tail section. It's interesting how similar they are and yet clearly different in so many details - details that give me pause and the idea I should spend flying time with the Edge first.

I'm going to fly the Edge tomorrow and if I can manage it well enough will try the Crack. Else I'll spend some time flying the Edge for a while...

edit: And yes to the glue along the bottom of the fuse. Good idea!

Yup - exactly what I did on my Xtra Slick. I posted that tip several weeks ago and I hope more people besides you and I do it. Really takes care of the beating the bottom of the fuse gets.

Yup,I did it to my Slick, and Edge. I don't run a tail skid, unless I have landing gear on the plane. The Edge, has a "hump" on the rear for the skid,a little welders really adds some strenght. Ron

The Edge doesn't need a tail skid without LG but the Crack does else the bottom/tail end corner of the rudder will take all the abuse.

edit: here's the profile.

Just finished and maidened mine, wow! Crazy fast roll rate and great tracking. Unfortunately I just got one flight in before it turned dark.

I did a few full throttle bombing runs and no flutter at all. Very stiff.

For a while I didn't think there were any EPP planes out there that could still challenge and teach me, but this one is going to make a great practice tool.
