Does anyone know of an F 86 kit for the HW 609 Fan

Hi I am looking for a fiberglass and foam core wing F86. That will fly on my HW 609 and 1406/2Y and 10 zapped 2400's? Does anyone know of such a kit? I would really like to buy an F86. Any Ideas?
Thanks Joe

Joe, The only one is the Glockner. I built one and put a Kyosho fan and Aveox motor. Not to much to mod. That is the only kit I can think of.

F86

Hi Bob, is the EJF F86 worth the expense of me getting a new fan and 1412/2Y Aveox? Do they fly that well and do you think they would fly well with retracts?
Thanks Joe

F-86

Joe,
Over the years I have 6 of these planes. The first 5 were glow. The one I'm flying now is using Hw 730 fan , Hacker D50-13XL motor, 18 CP 2400 cells. I changed motors, the Aveox 1412/2Y was giving me 21400 RPM at 58 AMPs, the plane moved out. The Hacker motor gives me 20700 RPM at 40 AMPs. I lost 700 RPM but dropped over 18 AMPs. I'm flying it this weekend. I'm in the proccess of building another one using a Hacker B50-18S in a Midi fan setup. I'll keep you posted. Now all the wood is laser cut and the glass is primed.

Joe I'm with you, I'd love a Sabre for the HW609, but I'll probably go with the EJF Sabre later because it's big enough to carry retracts. Bungee launching makes me nervous!

I've seen the bigger Glockner Sabre fly at the Arizona Jet Rally two years ago. It belonged to Greg Moore I believe, and the same jet was reviewed in Flying Models, I think in the April 2000 issure. It wasn't much to look at, basically it was Monokote over white foam, so the surface was easily damaged. Fiberglass is so much nicer. If flew nice though on 12 cells, midi fan and 1409/2Y. The smaller Glockner kit is the same type construction.

EAM is working on a Sabre in the HW609 size I think, not sure when that will be out.

I've thought about scratch-building one but that's inline with a million other wishes.

The one thing I don't like about the EJF is the big blow in doors on the side. To me that totally destroys the look of the airplane, but then I'm picky. I think a better setup is having the cheater hole in the front of the wing like the Jet Hangar F-86. If you have inlet ducting for both inlets, it's basically a bifurcated duct, just a funny shape. Ducting would surely increase top speed. Battery layout is sort of a problem as far as having it easily removable, but that can be worked out also I think.

Blow in doors

The doors can be left off. It is only used during take off. In flight they close. Rich Uravitch say it would increase take off roll about 75-100 ft.
I'm trying it on my Midi powered version. Still need cheater hole in wing.

So you are using a cheater hole in the wing also, as well as the doors? Hmm, didn't know that. I guess the more you get from a dead stop, the better you can accelerate. Well we have a 600 foot runway in Vegas so no problem, except maybe in August when it's 100 billion degrees.

I can't wait to see all the neat EDFs you guys will be flying Bob, especially the Sabre.
