Question
Looking to join a club in San Antonio, tx

I'm interested in finally joining a club/field after being in the hobby a long time. most of my searches have turned up old websites that look like they haven't been updated in years and all of my LHS haunts have now shut down. (hobby center,2nd chance and rebel)
Is there a list of active flying fields in my area?
Is AMA required to fly as a guest ?
I've got my mini ultra stick almost ready to go and would like some flight instruction.
Thanks

Hi fellow San Antonian,

I was a member of the Arcs (Alamo Radio Control Society), back in the 70's. They are still here and a very fine club. I am thinking about joining again. There is also the Propbusters as well as a few more. On the ARCS web page, you will find links to the other fields in the area. www.alamorcs.org.

Cheers,

Nick

I used to fly at Mckinney park, then off of Hwy 151 and Potranco ( alot of guys used to congregate there). I also flew at Kitty Hawk ultralight field. I never joined a club in SA but wondered about joining a club to make friends and get advice. Now I'm in Houston, joined the club at Dick Scobee Airfield and won't even think about flying in a non-club setting anymore.

Looks like there are four clubs with San Antonio addresses:
http://www.modelaircraft.org/clubsearch.aspx

Most clubs require members to join AMA, not sure about guests tho ...
