If I was flying Spektrum/JR, I would go with these receivers (Powersafe) instead of going the Smart Fly way. I am not sure how safe these PowerSafe receivers are but they have a solution to avoid the use of a separate power system.

I think that's the route I'm going to in the new Krill, Specifically AR12120 is the DSMx version with PowerSafe. I've been trying to find a decent review of them.

HV then no problem but if you're using the standard 6V then you have to add regulators. Basically what goes in is what goes out. I think it can handle up to 10V. What radio are you flying again?
