Cartoon Mig 15 3 blade prop as DIY EDF
Put this up here cuz it's unusuall..
I built Sparks'es cartoon Mig 15. He designed it to fly with a 3 blade prop cut down to fit in the fuse in the nose.
I first got it to fly as a pusher with tail mounted motor as a pusher , but needed a 2200ma battery in the nose to balance it. Wing loading was high at AUW of 20 oz.
So I mid mounted the motor in the fuse and tried with a cut down prop. Not enough air out the rear. Went to a cut down 3 blade GWS prop , still not enough thrust. Changed to a 2212 06 2200 KV motor and away it flew .
All my trials and successess are at the end of Sparkes Cartoon Mig 15 - F-86 thread here http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1441002
But if you've ever wondered if a crude EDF could be made out of a prop in a fuse , here's your answer

I think if I try a 4000 kv motor like your smallest EDF has I will be more comfortable rolling it and it might even loop. But when you try a dozen underpowered launches where it returns to Earth for lack of thrust believe me you are pleasantly satisfied to the point of giddy to fly a few circuits ...

Prop was GWS 10x6x3 cut down to about 6x 6x3. the plane woulda flown fine with a light edf set up 64mm or so , the experiment was to make it fly with an internal propeller.
