Nine Eagles Sky 500

First flights today, before the wind started. Very nice flyers. We forgot to bring pliers, so couldn't trim additional nose up that they both needed, since the transmitter trim wouldn't quite make it.
We are very pleased with these planes. They can be flown in very tight spaces.

Good flight today!

The Mrs. got about a 15-minute flight on her Sky 500, this morning. I had tweaked the "U"-bend in the elevator push-rods, so they showed just a little bit of up, on the control surface, and that seems to be all that plane needed. She was able to fly it hands-off, with no trouble. (We had to hold up all the time, on the first flight, and that is terrible)!
Turns out mine had an imperfection on the driven nylon gear in the prop drive system, which stole so much power that I could not stay airborne.
I removed the spinner & prop, and cleaned out between the gear teeth, where it was obstructed. Spins up a lot better now. If it is calm again tomorrow, we'll have another go. (I have 2 more Sky 500s on order, so we'll fix the problem, one way or another)!
This is a very impressive little plane!

The latest;

Thank you for your comment! We received the 2 Sky 500s from Hobby King, but they were the version without transmitters and Lipos.
As it turns out, the Lipo was defective in one of the 2 original models we got from another vendor in China, so I have now ordered 6 batteries from HK.
So, the bottom line is; Of the 2 complete Sky 500s, one was essentially perfect, while the other had a bad motor, and a bad Lipo!
(I plan to replace the electronics and the motor with the items shown in the pictures).
We flew yesterday, and the new one from HK, (using Judy's battery), flew right out of the box, just as it should have!
One great advantage of changing to brushless is that they can be programmed to brake, so that the folding prop will actually fold, when throttle is chopped!
(The tiny brush motor does not allow this, so the prop just keeps spinning, and never folds, which hurts the glide capability of this little beauty)!

Happy new year!

Looks like the Chinese new year will probably hold up my getting the new batteries, so I think I will make do with one I have, which has the wrong connector.
I will use the defunct one from my first Sky 500, to get the 9 Eagles connector from.

Oops!

I thought I was ordering the 9 Eagles lipos from the HK US warehouse, but no, they're coming from China, through Switzerland! They may get here in time for Oktoberfest, but I won't count on it!

Hobby King sold the props earlier this year. Hopefully still do. They are sold under the Skysurfer EPO Glider, by Nine Eagles, and are part number NE401781005A.

Can you buy a charging clip that will connect to a programmable charger? I have seen a homemade version, but I am not a good solder.

Sky 500 Maiden Fright

I also purchased a Nine Eagles Sky 500. I like small models, as they are easy to keep close while flying, and easy to store.
I maidened mine today, and had to land after a bit to make an adjustment on the rudder. I crimped the control rod "U" bend just a tad, and tried again.
This little model flys very nicely. Got it to fly hands off.
It doesn't have a lot of power, and I wouldn't expect that from this kind of model. It isn't a hotliner. Now that I know this inexpensive airplane flys, I can purchase a couple more batteries.
I guess you could say I am another happy customer. Crash
