That is very sad news, he had the best hobby magazine from my perspective and was a great guy to deal with. Model Builder had great authors and event coverage, truly, a mag for the model builder.

That is indeed great news, I think I'll start making up a list of plan's that I only thought about getting.

Winches and a tow hook, good combo.

The foamy 747 in the previous article was perhaps the first glider I had ever seen with direct drive torque tubes. Pretty slick back then.

Interesting to see the Ridge Runt as an original (or semi original) design. I had not heard of it before the Hobby Shack version came out.

Ok here's Tom Gressman's Challenger flying here in Tucson, very impressive and a pretty long flight as well.

John Lupperger worked for Hobby Shack, they kitted a number of his designs.

I am one of the fortunate people to have watched Otto fly his Challenger in contests for years. Someday, I'll write a brief history of Otto's memorable flights in all kinds of weather conditions and temperatures. I have his framed Challenger fuse with pull pull on the elevator. I intend to finish his build and fly it. Some have set up the flaps as flaperons.
