Hi guys put a new motor in the sbach after a crash in which I bent the motor shaft. I'll ordered a new shaft which will hopefully fit from hobby king but I wanted to be able to run on 5s sometimes too.

The new motor is this http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...dProduct=19621

I'm running it in a 14x8 prop but it only draws 55amps on 4s so I'm going to try a 15x8 prop as I think it's a bit slower than the stock motor with this set up.

However I have a couple of problems. I still have the stock esc in there and when in the air (4s) if I go from low throttle to full throttle very quickly the motor squeals and jerks. If I raise the throttle slowly or in a normal manner it is fine to run on full throttle. Also I've only ground tested it but on 5s the motor squeals as I get close to 3/4-full throttle even when the throttle is eased on.

Are these issues the stock esc not coping with the different motor or not being able to supply enough power?

As for the esc with the motor you need to change the timing in the esc

I had a close call today when the rudder servo got the jitters. She floated in nicely though for an emergency landing. So it looks like I will be changing out the stock RUD and ELEV servo's. I might leave the AILE servo's in place for now.

A mate got some shots of mine flying the other day this is my second sbach which after 40 flights is stock other than a better prop and a scale Robert tail wheel setup
My first was a complete rebuild with eflight motor and esc Savox servos all round and honestly I'm really impressed with the stick setup

...tell the story of this big foamie... She is a nimble ship that seems to fly "lighter" than the all up flying weight would lead you to believe. Of course, the proof is in the pudding & flying is believing......

Nice shots you got there, iceaxe. Looks like you were having fun with her & that's what this hobby is all about...

Anyone looking for a replacement motor shaft for the stock motor this one is a good fit from hobbyking.

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...dProduct=20530

However you also need a new 5mm collar as the old collar won't fit the new shaft. As the stock shaft steps down at the end to I think 3mm but the replacement doesn't.

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...idProduct=8412.

However you actually may need shorter grub screws on the collar as the ones provided stick out from the collar and can rub on the stock motor mount screws.

Its a great sport/acro airframe, I wouldn't really say its a hang on the prop 3D plane. It does great flat spins, knife edges, tumbles ect. It is an excellent flyer, capable of high and low speed maneuvers and is very stable.

Its one of my favorites in the hangar right now.

Hey pullup,
+1 on those comments. I "broke" mine out yesterday for a couple 6 minute flights & she flew so nice & gracefully. She can be so tame on low rates but then bump them up with a flick of the switch & she'll snap so quickly, almost like a plane 1/2 her size.........

By far "thee" most neutral flying ship when inverted that I have in the hangar. I was just about ready to take the Sbach up for a "spin" when one of my flying buddies started giving me some grief about never flying this ship (always in the rig, but not out in the pits) So I took off, got her airborne, got her straight & level parallel to the runway, flipped her over then took my hands of the sticks & she just stayed there. Completely locked in, perfectly level with no pitch or roll of any kind. Needless to say he was quite impressed with this big foamie saying that all of his ships need some kind of elevator input while flying inverted... Such a great acrobat & an all around well-balanced flyer.....

Did have a failure after landing after the second flight so I couldn't enjoy her as much as I'd hoped. Stock tail wheel decided to snap off at the fuse connection...so guess what pullup? I resurrected the Dynam Peaks 42 once again... I yanked the tail wheel off that dead soul's rudder & stuck it on the Sbach....... Never know when those scavenged parts from those old ships will come in handy...... Tell you what though, she'll be coming out of hiding muy pronto for more airtime ASAP!!!
