It would be really nice to have some of the Oregon and Washington guys come down for the event. Rick has several loaner GPS units. I think it's going to be a lot more enjoyable if we have more planes in the air at the same time.

I plan on attending. I have a 3.75m ASH-25 and am building a 1/4 scale DG-200.

I will be starting to practice at the Oregon Aerotow events, using FRSKY telemetry connected to Android phone app for logging and pilot info (instead of SkyNav).

I do have a question about scoring program and file format: All I do is log GPS data in IGC format and the scoring program does the rest, right? No real need to adhere to SkyNav program?

I am always up for anything going on at Montague, but can understand if others can't make it.

I plan on attending. Rick, do we have at least a couple of working GPS units? As others have said if it gets too small I'm OK with re-scheduling/canceling.

I have one working and may be able to fix 2 more. In any case, I plan to buy 2 more gps receivers as spares. I should know more by Monday.

It's going to be hot, 94/95 with chance of T storms Sunday.
Plenty of water available. Showers available for the campers. Bringing large fans for the hangar.
Looks like three tow planes.
Simple format, person with most laps in a single flight over the three days gets first and so on. Awards through three places.

Montague GPS Triangle Race
Montague Triangle Race came to a close today with 6 Teams participating in the 3 day event held in one of the most magnificent locations around The Siskiyou Airport, Montague, Ca. Hosted by Dean Gradwell. The Task was to be towed up to 500 meters and enter a Triangle course no higher than 500 meters and fly to 3 designated points 500 meters apart as many times as possible in 30 min The start and finish point being the same. Things got started Friday With Mac making the first run at the course doing two laps to set the standard for others to beat, By the end of the day Dean had the most laps with 8 and a average speed of 40.92kph.
Day two started of with Mac making attempt to beat the 8 laps set down by Dean the day before and the others would follow trying to be King of the hill with no avail, Deans record would hold until the next day When Rick make a 8 lap run but his time would fall short. On Sunday Dean and John would both try a speed run of 1 lap around the course Dean made it with a time of 2:14 62kph and John made two runs both the same at 2:07 68kph good job you two.
Why more scale pilots don’t try this is beyond me this contest is set up just like a full scale contest only scaled down for 1/3 scale models. Working with your partner and using all your flying skills anyone could win this contest so come on out next year and try.

Final results: Day 1
Pilot Laps Speed kph

Dean 8 40.92
Rick 7 36.21
Paul 5 30.47
John 5 28.8
Charles 5 25
Mac 2
Day 2
John 5 35.05
Dean 5 27.8
Mac 3 16
Charles 2 28,83
Paul 0
Rick 0
Day 3
Rick 8 38.2

FINAL RESULTS
1st Dean 8
2nd Rick 8
3rd John 5
4th Paul 5
5th Charles 5
6th Mac 3

Sounds like Dean is pretty tough to beat on his own turf!

He and Mac were flying the Antares. What was everyone else flying? Hoping that last photo isn't the reason for Rick's zero on day 2
