You made me have to go back to work so I could shoot another pic scorp. I have my rules about pages with no pictures.

It is the tall boy rudder. Not the one that came with the kit. The one that came with it is the tapered rudder like we both have on our 47" monos. I traded it for the square cut one that was on the Arapaho. Steve was out of the tapered rudder set for monos when I bought the one for the Arapaho and I wanted a square one for this one so it worked out well.

Anyways, bolted the motor into the mount so there could be a picture on this page.

Crap

Ran into a little something that will slow me down this evening.
I was planning to get the motor mount bolted in but think maybe somebody over there in China might have started the New Year celebration a little bit early.

Rail spacing is spot on at the very rear where they lock into the transom but at the front where the motor will mount they come in about 1/2" too wide.
Looking at the spacing from rail to tunnel edge I'll only have to get the left (port) one loose and move it in. Time to get out the dremel and a cut off wheel.

Too late, it's already done except for tightening motor mount bolts and glassing it back in.
Wasn't too bad cutting it loose. I have a 90* head for my dremel that makes it easier to get into tight places with.

edit, now it's down to glassing the rail back in but that's not going to happen tonight.

I killed most of my day today working on my mean machine twin (changing the rudder & bracket) but still managed to get the rail glassed back in and stuffing tube installed.

It's been another day of not much accomplished on this one. Had to do laundry, go get groceries, etc. (the drawbacks to being a solo pilot)

Did get around to making up and glassing in the forward hatch hold downs and installed a lifting knob. While I was working with the resin added a layer of carbon fiber cloth to the inside of the hatch of my 47" mono too. After cracking the gelcoat on it last weekend when it barrel rolled and jumped from the water thought it would be a good idea.
Started adding some flotation down the sponsons of this one too. I'm thinking of maybe incorporating the battery compartment into the foam. Any thoughts?

Didn't Hugh do something along that line with his (used to be Jim's) white cat?

PS... I have more of that foam if you need it.

Hugh's cat is what made me think about doing it. This one will pretty much finish off that last big piece of foam I got from you. Should be enough to finish it, but will take another chunk if it's laying around.

My biggest concern is that if it decides to do some aerobatics it might unlodge one or more of the packs and let them go bouncing around inside. I do like the idea of the extra flotation though.

I really haven't accomplished much the past couple of nights. Finished up the flotation foam installation Monday. Last night I finally put bullets on the esc, programmed it with the castle link and fired the motor up for it's 1st time since I bought it. Made a simple mount for the esc tonight and attached it.

Now I have to wait for the steering servo(s) to arrive. May use a single, may use two. Depends on how much luck Dave has with making me a double arm tiller for the speedmaster rudder.
