Now I got 3 of these after reading a Airborne Magazine review where the author raved about these engines claiming they were better than a X15 ..

I wouldn't swap my X15s for either or both of them.

I'm not sure what iteration mine are, they're not the G20 lookalikes. But both are super performers. If only I could find a proper use for them. One has been heavily modified by "a well known engine man". Love to see what it can do.

At the time (mid seventies) I was going to use it in an A speed because it was cheaper than a Rossi. A Rossi was $120 here and minimum wage was $1.80/hr. I had to get the Rossi anyway. I think the X .15 was about $50. It had a different glow plug like the Nelson's almost. It sealed on the bottom and had a clamp/sleeve over it. The plug was not in the centre of the head either. I was told it was the earliest one. That was the only one available then. Later I got the one piece case.

John,

What year would that be, I think I got them about 1982.

What speed models were about then? Pink Lady?

The fashionable Circa 1982 2.5cc speed model would be the APS Kingfisher IIRC.

Its an upright motor model with a long inboard wing and a short stub for an outboard one. Sort of a "Pink Lady" evolving into a modern F2A model.

We have a monoline .25 OS DF FIRE sized version down the shed that Dave Curry built for Lachlan for the Nowra winter Nats. Flew lovely at home but speed was a blowout..... again.

Talking of Zom's here's mine. I should really full it apart to see why the piston leaks so badly.

Here's my newest baby. An MP Jet .061. The BB version is now being manufactured again. This is a new old stock one.
I still need to brew some zero nitro fuel to break it in. That's according to the sheet that came in the box with it. I've heard these are really good running engines.

I've just finished some work on converting this .85cc (050) OFNA Picco 1/16 Buggy motor into a control line engine. Bob Fisher did the head trimming and the tapered collet/prop driver, and I did the venturi plug and assembly (from some Cox TD parts) and the prop sleeve nut. It comes with a Turbo plug head button and an r/c carby.

The motor is brand new otherwise and was bought on US ebay for USD40. There's (plenty left!)

Greg,

It's not mine ("I've got enough engines"), it's Alan Mason's. There's another three or four on the way for the Mannering Park crowd. I suspect that 1/4A Combat is the intended purpose.

Ray,

I don't believe that for a minute! Sounds more like Mrs L to me.

For $40 I was tempted, but the $28 shipping stopped me.

What does it weight?

Thanks,

Pat MacKenzie

Pat,

yes the seller seems to be making his profit from the postage doesn't he.

I'm not sure what it weights now 'cause it's gone back to the owner. I'll find out what it weights in r/c format.

I wonder if it would be the same shipping to ship 3 or 4 at a time. You need spares because the cranks break easy. I wish it was a rear exh. so a pipe would work.
