Happy new year guys, finally got my mini cp inverted today after all the issues and it feels fantastic. not having 35C nanotech was my biggest issue and now I see hobbyking lists 45C now too. Is this the most powerful that will fit the stock tray under 400mah? I see some 2s 350mah 65C that may be worth splitting up

mini cp first flips and inverted flying (3 min 32 sec)

V120d02s is on the way but the brushless mod is calling louder by the minute. Has anyone bought the rc711 already modded one? How does it perform compared to the walkera drop in one or one made from parts from the Jade dude?
http://www.rc711.com/shop/24g-walker...65_122_292_294

Thanks to everyone patient enough to put up with my complaining and still offering advice, it really did help my sanity.

This is a subject that comes up pretty often. The cheapest and most optimal combination for a brushless mod comes you guessed it from HobbyKing.
1. 14000kv motor
2. 10A Brushless ESC
3. ESC flashing stick, for use use BLHeli

Optional (if the tail doesn't hold):
4. 7mm FBL100 tail motor
5. FBL100 tail motor mount
6. FBL100 tail motor fin

First 3 should be around $50, half the price found everywhere else. Info about mounting can be found in this thread or on helifreak. Good luck

Would the 14000 kv motor work with a 7A esc?
I ordered that last week, thinking that it will work .

Yes, it will without any problem. The reason I list the 10A ESC is because it already has a flashing connector mounted on and makes updating and setting up BLHeli a lot easier. And yeah, it has really good FETs.

Thanks. I did a search on this thread and read that a BLheli flashed ESC does not need an additional signal convertor. Is this true?
I got a Genius CP, a brushless motor and an ESC that suports blheli. Everything except for a signal convertor.

If this is true, then it is great news for me indeed!

but the ESC from Hobbyking doesn't work out of the box on the negative main motor connector of the Mini CP RX, there is a hardware difference between the real WK customized Oversky 10A ESC and this one from Hobbyking (or the same from Oversky for the MCPx) I have both and can confirm that the HK doesn't work, there is a resistor different on the input, but since I burned my HK ESC, I need to wait for the new one to double check)

to get the HK ESC working on the Mini CP you need to solder the input on this pin 1 or 2:

see also the separate thread for the Oversky ESC

I hope to try if that resistor mod / capacitor removal will work to modify a HK ESC to a "real" Oversky 10A ESC working on the Mini CP.

That's my picture and yes, that's correct.

For performance's sake, you would get rid of the connectors and solder everything down anyway, so I look at the price

and as soon as I get my new 10A ESC from HK (in transit) I will check, if it can be easily modified from a "MCPx" to a WK version by soldering the 1k resistor at the input and removing the capacitor, I have now two ESC in my hand, the original Oversky WK and the HK, so it should be easy to measure the difference.

if that will work, you can get for 14 USD a great ESC, the softstart itself is perfect like on my YGE ESC for my bigger heli, (a German ESC with all options like Gov (store mode), different timing and frequ.......)

I ordered the 14000kv motor from HK so will be able to compare the 11000kv c05m, the 13000kv c05m, the HP05s 14000kv and this 14000kv HK motor, let's see.

What Pinion/main gear do you recommend for this motor?

I ordered 1 also, should be getting it soon, but no tracking info for some reason. Right now I'm running a HP05S & 8T & GCP main with a 7mm HM-V120D06-Z-09 tail motor. I'm going to use same setup & looking for close to same performance but more run time I hope.

I will run Mini main gear with a 8T pinion. Probably 7T is good too if you're a beginner.

I don't know about 9T, I'm not familiar with this motor but I suspect it could bog down on hard collective. Motors this small don't have enough torque to run with 6k headspeed.

Yes, HK needs signal from a FET on mini RX and not from the motor plug. But is an easy job if you can solder (don't see why anyone couldn't solder tbh).

Those flight times seem about right. I run 100% throttle & timer set for 3 minutes. Then land a little after & batteries are at upper 3.77 to 3.8. I have an old V100D08 & the stock batteries fit the MCP tray perfect. Also took the tail motor off of V100D08 which keeps the tail rock solid on the MCP. The GCP main gear I heard is a better gear ratio with a BL setup.
