Micro Monocoupe 90a for UM gear

I'm working on the first of what will be (I hope) in a new line of micro fliers designed around the Parkzone UM gear that I'm going to call the Wisp series.

The idea for this new series is to have them all designed around a common 'Power Pack' that will hold the motor, receiver brick (AR6400) and battery and can be easily swapped from one airframe to the next.

So far the Monocoupe 90a has come along very nicely. This is a completely new style of design for me and has been a lot of fun so far. It's really a whole new world as far as design and building techniques.

I hope to have the prototype ready to fly by next weekend at the North Penn High School Indoor FunFly

That's pretty cool, lots of precision laser work there. Kind of an extension of the Whim series in a way.

How will you be finishing it? Iron on covering? Dope and tissue? Or just dope and a color coat?

First thing I thought of was boy would that be a cute electric FF.

I'll be painting the bare wood. Seal the wood first and then a couple of light coats of acrylic paint.

Weight

I've been thinking of building a UM in Balsa. How does that compare to foamies weight wise/crash wise in general?

Maybe true. I have many of your planes still up and flying regularly, and the coupe is a mainstay in my rotation. I do need one for the indoor now too.
