I am not 100% sure here but, I believe you can use the zyx gyro in a plane so long as you update the gyro to the latest firmware 3.5 using the version 3 software. That is how I am going to use the zyx in a plane when i get round to it.

What I would like to know is can you also use a satellite with the zyx (non s version) if you use the latest firmware 3.5 and program it with the version 3 software.

Thanks Dr.M

Yay! I'm connected to John-nz software.

Tx setup was set to
Roll 45 / 36
Pitch 45 / 35
Yaw left/ right 40
Tail gain at 100 (set by tx)
Main rotor PID 80/80/30
Acceleration 125
Deceleration 55
Rc dead band 40
Gyro dead band 4
Tail rotor PID 80/50/30
Accel R/L 125
Decel R/L 25
RC dead band 60
Gyro dead band 4
Tail comp -cyclic to tail 0
Tail comp -collective to tail -2

My only complaint is the RC dead band on the tail and i remeber somthing about the value being backwards or something. Is that still the case or can i reduce thsi to a lower number to reduce the actual dead band?

And now I have a cx running zyx3.5 firmware. Much easier to understand and do the update with everything running and the really cool thing is all of the settings have remained the same. This rocks!

And another question; should i lower the roll and pitch gain to 10? Thought i read that as well.

Thanks Mike and Dr.M for the help. Now its a waiting game for the last few parts needed to finish the rebuild. Package has been in Kearny NJ for 4 days and I am beginning to think they are building a heli there and needed the parts...

I'm new to the whole fbl software thing. I went the manual route and my heli is flying great:

Tarot ZYX 3-Axis Gyro Setup & Programming (40 min 1 sec)

Can anyone tell me how using the software is better (besides it being easier)? Is my heli actually going to fly better using the software? Are there settings you can't change manually?

Tony,

I can't remember if you get access to all of the advanced settings using the sticks, but to me the big advantages of the sofyware are that you can actually see the values of the settings, save them to your PC, share and compare with others and easily change and reset back to previous settings.

Generally much easier to use.

Mike

Thanks Mike. I'll do it. Anyway I can always save my current settings before I try changing anything.

Please tell me, why my tail doesnt hold during tic-tocs? I get a constant tail blow out counterclockwise.
I set the tail gain via transmiter to the point where tail starts to shake a bit, but none setting via transmiter helps to eliminate this blowout.
Thanks.

How bad is the blow out?

If your heli is belt drive, it could be slipping under the added load???

Have you checked the linkage rod; to piro clockwise does the servo push the linkage rod? If it does, maybe its flexing under the load and not allowing the tail to maintain enough pitch?

Have you tried adding some collective / tail compensation?

No I didn't try the colective compensation.

You definitely need to set up about +10 to +15 tail to collective compensation in the Advanced settings. You state it's going counterclockwise, so you'll totally need positive value compensation. Mine is set at + 12, but don't increase too much.

It's really the only way to get rid of the tic toc tail blow-outs. Of course, don't increase too much or your tail will start to wag.

Thanks, I'll try that !
P.S.
Before going flybarless I though this is the real deal, no need to change many parts after crash, the whole setup is much easier, in other words just positive against flybared. But I was wrong, the whole setup is so complicated. Also I have to carry my laptop to the field to make adjustments. This takes so much time... And that Align DFC head was freaking me out. It is so sensitive to anything ! And caused a lot vibrations....
I don't know if I would able to choose FBL vs FB which one would I choose now..
