HI I was wondering I have a old Five star 5501 championship 7.2/8.4 ac/dc charger it has a trickle indicator light. It has a timer on it at 15 minutes a discharge/charge toggle switch and another toggle says 6 cell 7.2/7 cell 8.4 toggle switch.

The battery I will attempt to charge is a Tenergy Nickel-metal Hydride Battery 6 cell 3800mah ; nimh 7.2 volts. Sorry that is all the battery says and What I see on the charger. Can I charge the battery with this charger? If I can . Can I get some advise on what o do? I dont want to burn out my new battery. Sorry but working with what I got. Thanks in advance for your input...

Not a good idea really....those ancient timed chargers are pretty hard on the batteries because they don't shut off when the battery is full...but if it's all you've got it will probably work after a fashion.

It looks like it's going to charge at around 5A so it will take some time to fully charge a 3800mAh battery....probably around 45 minutes (or 3 lots of 15 minutes ).

Modern chargers are so cheap that I wouldn't bother with that one myself. If you know any electric fliers they've quite possibly got much better NiMH chargers than that lying around doing nothing because we've all moved on to lipos. You might get one given to you for nothing .

Lipo (not lipoe) - lithium polymer battery. What most people have been using for the last 8-10 years .

NiMH (not nimph) - what you've got, as you said in the thread heading
