Question
Where to buy Deans 4 pin connectors

Well guys where do you get yours? My LHS doesn't carry them and the couple of on-line shops I checked with are out of them too.

TIA,

Mike

I'm assuming for servo connectors in the wing? I use pin headers and receptacle from digikey. These are the part numbers:

Female 0.1” headers: 929850E-01-36-ND

Male 0.1” headers: 929647-09-36-ND

Tower Hobbies says in stock for black and red.

I usually add a few Deans connectors when I order something else.

Those look like the one Greg put in the Taboo I bought from him.... That subsequently failed when the pin no longer made a good connection in the socket.

I'm going to give the Deans a try this time.... Thanks.

This page gives a guy some real options provided you have a proper crimper .

I buy a few header strips and the crimp on ends and Im set for almost any application.

Best move I ever made after yrs of cold solder joints and burnt finger tips.

The header strips require soldering. Are you replacing these pins with the male terminal pins that have crimp on ends?

Those do look cool! I already have a crimper that I bought years ago to make custom servo extensions. I quit using it because the housing sizes were too big to fit my in RX slots. With my aging eyes anything that eliminates fine soldering work is welcome. I just might be selling that handful of Deans I ordered yesterday.

Yes, you can do that. Those plugs are very versatile. You can also slide a female crimp on over the male header strips and solder them.

I bought the deluxe crimper with the ratchet which is a must

I will likely order those tools, they are very reasonably priced and look relatively high quality. I do all UAV work with 0.1" spacing locking connectors (same pins and sockets as your link, different connectors), but I don't have the $100+ crimp tools at the house. Locking crimp is the mil standard for flight-worthy connectors, and our DLG's do experience some pretty high launch loads!

The deluxe crimps are worth the money. The other is not!
