This is the thread for the Mr. Lifter Contest for 2012. Show what your multi-rotor can do across a variety of categories.

Changes for the 2012 period of the contest

• The creators of the multi-rotor that wants to enter a particular category has to enter him/her-self by posting in this thread. Nobody can enter others on their behalf.
• Removed the "most durable" category as it's difficult to measure and compare durability.
• Added a new category (V) for this year: Furthest Distance -- How far can you travel with your Multi Rotor, round trip (will require FPV).

Each posting should include

• Build Specs: Motors, ESCs, Battery, Flight Controller, Frame, Propellers
• Weight specs: lipo weight, frame weight (everything else besides lipo), AUW (lipo weight + frame weight).
• Pictures and/or Video that proves the entry
• When you post, state the category in which you are entering

I. (a) Mr. Lifter - Heavy Lifter, greatest payload including battery, dead man lift style, must clear at least 6 feet for at least 10 seconds with video.

I. (b) Mr. Lifter - Controlled Heavy Lifter, greatest payload including battery with a flying task. Task is 2 minutes of flying showing controlled flight. Demonstrate controlled forward and reverse flight, 360 degree turn left and right turn (pirouettes or circuits) at any point in the flight.

2011 Winner: Killy's hexa does a flip while weighted with 5.29 kg!!

II. Mr. Lifter - All Out Time Duration, longest time in a single flight. Video is now required to verify duration claim, but you can speed it up.

Great Steve, thanks -- hope you find a category to enter! Maybe the new 'furthest distance' category! That category is wide open with no 2011 incumbents or record holders.

I was thinking about trying a really large tricopter. Just something quick to see try to determine if at some large size the control response slows down enough so that gyros aren't needed.

Yes, the competition is closing on 12/31/2012. So you have some time, but building a craft that can beat any of the records set in 2011 will take a moment, I think. And, if you are in the top 5, you can promote that fact heavily throughout the year. Depending on how many prizes we get we may also do a mid year prize distribution for the top slots.

At this point, one copter could be in first place for every category for 2012
