Here are some of mine yes no flying Horten (the HII is handmade an static) and except most are made from foam. Need more time to fly last time iI took one out was 2010

HortenI: Wow, that 2nd plane is really small and no doubt fast. It must have a roll rate of 720 degrees per second or "faster than I can see".

Here's my Oblique Flying Wing (OFW) demonstrator built for NASA in 1994. It's a scaled down version of an SST concept that is highly efficient over a wide range of cruise Mach Numbers. The model has a 20 ft span and weighs 80 lbs. Power is from 2 x 0.91 ducted fans and there's an on-board computer system for augmented stability in the pitch and yaw axes. The model was flown with oblique sweep varying between 20 and 55 degrees (i.e. like a surfboard flying sideways through the air).

This one isn't a model, but many RC models were tested before the full size version was built. It's a rigid-wing hang glider with a pilot fairing for reduced drag. Max L/D is close to 20:1. I own this glider but a higher performance version is still in production:

Steve, that oblique wing is very impressive. Those oblique wings have fascinated me. I was intrigued by the one Geode built for sloping - http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showt...hlight=oblique and now we have a "rocket scientist" showing us his stuff. A tip of the hat to you sir.

the Schapel is one of my favorites too. I enjoyed a lot the design and construction. It's a very well balanced design, which spans over the complete range: fast, dynamic and slow. I have not measured the L/D, but it should be around 12 - 15, which is not bad for an AR of 7 and such a small model (2 m span).

@Stuart: I use a pusher now. I think the space is not large enough for an impeller fan and it was the easiest way to shift away from a turbine - a Lambert Kolibri with 25 N of thrust.

@Steve: I like the Swift, although I'm not really into winglets...

@Brian: Maybe we find an arrangement concerning the plans

Hi Stewart,
the only drawing from the Horten 33 V2, which are Horten III wings with a tandem middle section, it is from the german "Verlag für Technik und Handwerk" who release the FMT. We had a discussion to built one but the design was not so good.

I have the FMT plan and the details are that it was drawn by Kriz (no surname), on the 28,12,1992, is to 1/6 scale and there are 2 pages to the plan.
It has been on my to do list both as an electric soarer and as an indoor rubber scale job for years. I even have vac formed the canopy for the indoor one.

It was this plan of mine that Falcon aviation scanned ready to cut the parts. They also scanned the SZD Wampir and Nietoperz plans I had. I should be surprised if they have cut any parts yet though.

Regarding the Ho33, the airfoil section is very thick for its chord at 20% thickness at both the root and tip. Reflexed root and a NACA type symetrical tip with 9* negative twist.
