Thanks.
Not seen the link before but have got the Feb 2010 issue of Q&E flight. Infact that’s the build that got me drooling over the sea vixen, truly amazing what Chris Gold does and how quickly he does them. I remember when I first started in RC aircraft; the first magazine I picked up had a Chris Gold plan, all foam Gloster javelin for two tiny cox engines. Got me hooked there on . I wonder.... that plan exist anymore???

Finished building the rudders and partially skinned underside of boons. I’ve not glued the rudders in place yet as they need sanding to shape on TE along with fins also, need to cover them with fibreglass tissue. Infact might not fix them in place until painted… we’ll see.
Not have much time this week, I started playing around with the canopy when I had time. PN designs didn’t have the canopy as it was never released to product so I improvised . I’m no fan of making canopies but my luck was in whilst visiting the local model shop for supplies. There on the shelf I spotted a canopy that look perfect for the job… a P51 canopy. Sure enough with a little tweak here and there it would do the job fine. Forgot to take a photo before starting to chop it up, so far I’m please how it looks: Appears a little tall at the moment but when sunken into the fuselage with cockpit platform and pilot I think she will look okay. Oh yeh, ordered the pilot today from jethanger.com, (thanks gbmoore for the link). Next week I’m off work for the week so will have some more time to spend on her. |

started on the outer wings, lower skin was sitting on a depron frame set to the washout angle. every thing else just straight forward bulid. Second wing tip next then i will start on ailerons and there mounting, servo box and controls before skinning. Also not forgetting nav lights. need also to think of rocket and fuel tank mounting points.

Thanks doushiyou12. been watching your build of the Kawasaki XC-2, lovely model.
well , pilot has arrived so I can work on the sunken cockpit area. Waiting on delivery for wing servos, some more motors; one I bought from GC are just too big. Might just bite the bullet if the next ones are not good enough and get the e-flite motors designed for the fan. Also need to get some more retracts, the 15-25 ones with steerable nose gear. |
