Nice video. Why the wing ripped apart?

It was a glue joint from a previous crash.
Don't use ca. If I had to do it again I would use 3m-90.

Mine started to do the same (but with inverted sides) after a crash. Before it was like on rails.

Wings was little cripped near the joint, in the back side. I've stretched them back in the original shape with hot water, then I've put two small magnet to keep them tight. Now it flies straight.

Another things was that, during crash, the motor nacelle has been ripped away. I've had glued it back as good as possible but not as before. Maybe there's a fraction of degree of difference and this generates the anomaly.

I might agree during low sun level but unless you compare the same flight with both cams you wouldn't know.
I have and they are about the same.
There are other things to consider though and the hk wins hands down.

Now there is a hkv2 that we are testing and it looks like it will be vastly superior to even the #16 and hk1 but it comes with a price.

Mine isn't - it's terrible. And it vignettes.....

My #16 takes great film in bright light conditions; but even under an overcast (normal for the UK) it's performance leaves summat to be desired.

Oh! I am not happy what you are saying...
I have just received my HK cam. 3 days from UK warehouse. No instructions.
What's that thing on the front next to the lens that turns round. I recon I need to make a case for it.
Is there a link for instructions for this thing?

Flypoppa,

Look under the files tab of the international (not UK) HK wing cam:
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s..._5MP_CMOS.html

There's a bunch of manuals there.

its not that bad- we face ours downward a bit and edit out the sky shots to some degree- every 40 dollar cam has some short falls...

that is a vibrator - it shakes when you turn it on and start or stop a video--

push and hold rear button(furthest from lens) until a light comes on- then push middle button briefly- a second light will flash and continue to flash while it records- hit middle button again to stop recording- and rear button hold down to turn it off

heres a link to HK cam info

http://www.youtube.com/watch?NR=1&v=...ture=endscreen

This camera is awesome for the budget. Very easy to use after you got the buttons order.

1) Press the button far from the lens for 2 seconds to turn it on (blue led). In a few seconds the vibrating motor will confirm that the camera is ready to go.

1.5) added by scott- if you are going to record video- skip #2 as it comes up ready for video-go straight to #3

2) Select the mode using the same button:
Blue - record video
Red - photo.
Blue / Yellow - record video automatic with any camera move.
Red / Yellow - the same, but for photos.

3) Press the middle button to start/stop recording or to take a photo.

4) To turn it off press the button far from the lens again for 2 seconds. If you forget the camera on it will turn off after 3 minutes.

The camera was design to record with the buttons up, so it´*s better to use it on the top of the plane. (put your Velcro strip on the battery)

Well, after recording you could watch the movies (avi) on your TV or computer. The computer is the only way to erase and copy the videos and you just need to connect via USB. It works very well on a PC or MAC.

Using a TV

Connect the camera cable to any Video Input on your TV. The default setting is for NTSC video, so no problem. You could change this and many other settings using the "camera´*s tv menu".

1) The button closer to the lens is a menu selector. Press it for 2 seconds and you bring the menu up.
2) Use this button and the middle one to select options. (including set date/time stamp or eliminate it)

i copy and pasted this info for you guys-- seems accurate..

Thanks Scott. Most of that is good to go. But how do I get to the menu? In the UK our TVs are PAL. I have tried to hook up to my TVs but none of then see the cam. (Unless some one in the UK know better).
Is there a way I can access the camera menu via a computer?
Is there a programe some place that will allow me to do that.
I expect I am not seeing the obvious.

Scott is also testing the hk wingcam2 and from the first few flights with it it looks like a winner.
We need to do more flights in better light and compare it to the hk1,and gopro .
We flew it the first time in heavy fog but it preformed great.
