Turnigy D2826/10 (1400KV, 205W, 21A): http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...ess_Motor.html Without any first hand experience with this motor, it does look to be the best suited for your goals. Out of these three, it would be my pick.
Turnigy D2826/6 (2200KV, 342W, 34A): http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...ner_Motor.html I'm running a 6x4 on a 50gram 2200kv motor and it draws ~22amps at WOT. I don't know if you'd want to go all of the way up to a 7x6 with that motor, there's a chance you'd smoke it.

With a Mystery 40A ESC: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...e_Series_.html
or Turnigy dlux 55A ESC: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...a_Logging.htmlThis ESC weighs in at 81 grams I'd skip the brick and go for the 40 amper above

OR:

Firepower 400 Sport 2830-11 (1150KV, 180W, 17A): http://www.headsuprc.com/servlet/the...tor-1.9/Detail
HURC 40A ESC: http://www.headsuprc.com/servlet/the...-40-Amp/Detail The motor might not be hot enough for a 7 inch prop, but I could be wrong. If you could raise the mount to stick an even bigger prop on there, it might work.

With this aluminum outrunner motor mount: http://www.headsuprc.com/servlet/the...ustable/Detail

Any thoughts/recommendations on the above?
My 2 cents

EasyStar Twin motor light build

I have ordered a discounted ES l that I intend to modify into a twin. I plan on building light, using two 21gr 2226 outrunners with 3-blade EWS 6030 counter rotating props.

To counter the reported need for down trim under power, I consider mounting the motors a bit, 1-2cm, elevated wrt the wing:

This will also provide a little extra ground clearance for the props.

While waiting for my EasyStar kit, I have completed and tested the drive units:

The two 1800KV 2226mm outrunners draw 2 x 5,1A max current static @ 2S LiPo with 8A ESCs and a 3A switching BEC. Total weight with props, ESCs, BEC, and connectors is 83gr. The ESCs are very identical and the sound is just sweet

The original Speed400 brushed motor and ESC weigh around 100gr, and I estimate to have 3-4 times the thrust available.

I want to put the motors fairly close to the fuselage (max 7" prop), and I did consider integrate the aileron servos into the nacelles for added motor mount support, but that would limit how far out on the wing I put the ailerons. Any comments?

Now, mr Postman, please bring me my EasyStar...

Right now I'm designing the nacelles, and the idea of having detachable nacelles/motors came up. This way, there will be less fiddling with cables, when removing and installing the wings for transportation. I'm thinking in the lines of a vertical thrust carrier pin through the wing and the just 2 or 3 rare earth magnets to keep the nacelles/motors snapped in,

Maybe I could even use the aileron servo as a thrust carrier block, and remove that together with the motors. In that way, there will be no cable fiddling at all when removing and installing the wings...

No, I don't think I can come up with enough info to warrant a separate log. So unless someone protests, I'll just post here every now and then. Also helps keeping this thread alive.

BTW: Did you get your aileron servos mounted?

If you buy an ARF EZ II version it doesn't need anything (everything comes with it apart from the battery and transmitter), but you can upgrade to more powerful motor if you want to carry a camera and FPV stuff etc.

The ARF EZ 1 doesn't absolutely need anything either, but a lot of people upgrade that one.

Anyway, here is an EasyStar II flight from the top of a valley.

Scott, you need to distinguish between the EasyStar l and ll. The latter has ailerons and need 4 servos, whereas the first needs only 2. You may also need to do a little more reading in the threads (check out the EasyStar ll thread) if you want to be sure to get qualified replies to your questions. It has all been covered before.

I'm not sure about the l, but the ll comes with a nice folding prop, so it requires "only" motor, ESC, battery, servos and radio.

More versions are available, especially in the US, with some of them are fully, or more or less RTF. My comments refers to the most basic kit.

Edit: RC Flying UK, you beat me to it - and nice video, btw

Hang on! Have I missed something here in the years that I have been flying my EZ*1?
Where do I need to put the third servo? So far I have only needed 2. One for rudder and another for elevator.
When I fly the big wing one with ailerons then that has 4 servos not 5.

Sorry, thanks for waking me up I must have been thinking channels. It's of course 2 and 4 servos I've edited the info in the original post.

(Dated info alert: this is for the Easy Star 1. I don't know what they're doing with the Easy Star 2 but suspect this aspect is unchanged)

There are at least three Easy Star configurations being sold, and they are called different things by different vendors. Read the vendor's list of what is included. If there isn't a list, you have the wrong vendor.

Bill, I am using the B2826 1400KV in mine EZ1 with a mount like the one you noted and I think an 8*4 prop. Mine is a big wing mod, though it is a bit heavy at the moment, but the motor works well, here is a link to the last video I posted, not quite vertical climb, but I am happy with it.

Big Wing EZ Star Second Video (7 min 6 sec)

On the ESC, I just ordered a BP40 Amp from BP Hobbies, at 26.7 grams it should do the trick.

Scott, I need to admit that I'm now starting to toy with a couple of Gyro's on the Big Wing as well. One on the airlerons and one on the Elvator to help smooth out the bumps up there.

EasyTwin build update

Well, mr Postman paid me a visit (EZ l) and I got busy building.

First, I did an aileron mod. Very straight forward. Note the narrow wedge that I cut out of the aileron after having cut that out of the wing.

I use tiny 20 x 8 mm digital metal gear ballbearing servos that I embed vertically in the wing. Servo arm and linkage on top to avoid damage on landing. Will also allow water landings.

The rest of the build was a walk in the park. I had prepared a couple of simple sandwich foam nacelles, which I hot glued on top of the wing (had placed a strip of tape beforehand, so it can go off again should I wish to return to normal pusher config). I also CA embedded two sets of 15mm plastic tubing in the wing LE for lower motor mounts.

Short video ( I hope the sweet sounds works, but Youtube had some audio issues):

AUW is just below 500gr
