Alright, so every so often I come back to this thread when questions arise. Ive searched and couldnt really find anything, so, heres my question.

Ive had my easystar for a number of years now and done my best to keep it stock. A while back I got some electronics to use on a scratchbuild I had going and it worked fine for a while, until I crashed. Id like to see if its possible to use the electronics from that build to FINALLY upgrade my easystar. The issue is that the motor is only 1360 kv and Im pretty sure the ez is better suited with something along the lines of 2200kv, BUT will it work with my setup? 1360kv motor swinging a 9x4.5 prop (ive also got a 8x4 I could use), 30AMP esc, 1300mah 3s lipo. Ill worry about ailerons later, right now I just want to get the power setup figured out.

If your motor mount provides sufficient clearance for 8" or even 9" props (), then it's certainly not a "stock" EZ1. Six inches is the absolute limit for a stock airframe, and 1360kv would indeed be too low for a 6" prop on 3S.

With a 6x4 prop, you'd want a motor in the 2000-3000kv range. 2200kv is very common on 3S. So is 2700kv on 2S.

In case I'm misunderstanding and your motor mount really is 8" or 9", even 1360kv is just about too high. 1000kv would suffice for a say 9x5, and a 8x5 prop would work well at ~1150kv.

nope I wouldnt be mounting in the old "slot" id likely end up removing the old motor and using a flat plate to attach the new motor so there is prop clearance.

Ive got some wire management to do yet. Not sure if ill throw ailerons on or not. Im going to fly it first.

All I did was cut the slot and coat the plate in hot glue before pushing it into the gap. I then went over the edges with glue also. It was a snug fit even before gluing so Im not too concerned with it coming loose.

No I did not. I was planning to spend Easter at my villa on the coast. I was checking the car and doing the tyre pressures. As I bent over to do the last one, I crinkled my back. Spent the rest of Friday streached out on the couch with the bottle of pain killers. Bah Humbug.
