Good to have you back, Rick! Sorry to hear that a young man like you has been hit with such a crap ailment. Cod liver oil tablets, that's what you need

I may be needing the benefit of your experience over the next few months. You know that with me, nothing happens fast, but things are moving in 'a certain direction'....albeit at a tectonic rate!.

Can I answer and give my opinion of that question?
The Bixler is made from EPO which some say is more brittle than the EZ*s ELPOR.
The surface of the Bix is smooth without the molding pimples of the EZ*.
In my opinion the Bix is more floaty than the EZ*. that is why I have put flaps on it.
If you were to get one then get the basic kit if you can,as the hardware is crap.
I have had to replace all of it, as if you were to visit the Bix threads.
The wing rod is too weak and many have had it fail in flight.
Basicly the Bixler is a Sky surfer with Hobby Kings stickers on it.
It has more room in the body for FPV kit if needed.

My top 3 moments:

3. Seeing the Radians front view camera angles in flight. They look like they have full Fu Manchu Mustaches! There's a chinese music theme running through my mind as I watched those shots. (see picture attached)

2. Landing: well done - loved the multiple camera angles. Great shot of "Cripple" landing as you brought yours in and very nice of you to pick up his plane as he is obviously bending/squatting inhibited. I tell guys I fly with that don't bend so well anymore that this is a mutually beneficial relationship; they can impart all their flying knowledge to me and I can bend over and pick up their planes. We both get what we want out of that relationship What sort of camera setup are you using?

1. This is by far the most classic part of the video. Right towards the end at the 5:49 mark you get the side-wing video shot of your landing and you see the writing on your fuselage. I practically fell out of my chair that is so classic. Brilliant too! You may want to consider micro-chipping these things like they do to dogs.

Thanks for the video, simply wonderful.

Thank you- glad u enjoyed it-cameras used were Hobby king wing cams- are 1280x720 HD -we used 4 of them that day-Great little camera- cost's $37 and of course last time I looked they were out of stock- I usually add a gopro on my head but I had forgot my head strap that day-

My EZ parts are coming and Eckace's Plane is in the paint shop drying (yellow?)

Rick, good to see you back, interesting on the gopro output, it sounds consistant with some of the other stuff I have been reading. I decided to carve out a fixed mount for the go pro in front of the canopy and will use a board camera as the FPV camera in the pod section.

If all goes well I am thinking I might be able to get this thing in the air Sunday for a maiden flight, if its not an epic fail I will even post some pics of the whole thing. :-)

On the Bix... I keep looking at those pics posted a week or so ago about the P-38 EZ* build, and find myself wondering if it would be wrong to cross mate two Bix's with an Ez* to build one.... though I think it would be more fun to do it with twin motors on the outside pods, and then camera gear on the middle pod...

I can hear my wife saying already, don't you have enough projects... <G>

Has anybody contacted cheapbatterypacks.com lately? I need to replace a battery in a robot and their Web site is serving up nothing but error messages.

Edit (next day): They're back up. The error message indicated a down database server. Which may have been due to backup, but it did last an hour or so at least and they didn't have a message showing what was happening. I think I'll stick to buying batteries from them (which BTW are very good and I've always had good service from them), and get my Web hosting elsewhere.

Haha... good to be back. Yeah all those common autoimmune thingees run rampant in my family, which is also why I'm so vulnerable to coughs as well - latent asthma. The arthritis thing has always lurked around me in the form of aching hands or knees, but this latest with my back and hip is bad enough to make me reconsider the kind of work I do for a living. Too much running around on my feet.

So... hmmmmmmm... what could be your big secret that you're slowly working up to? Haha... I'll be thrilled when you make that first flight. Just be sure to at least tack an 808HD #11 onto the nose so we can see too! :-)

And yes, absolutely I'll be glad to share what I know. :-)
